This is a great thread, btw.
Another classic from the 70s:
Surprised no one has mentioned Taxi......
Wonderful show with great characters.
I think a lot of these intros did more than just start the shows - they defined the cities and occupation through their repeated viewing. They show itself was about the characters, but the intros were about the places and occupations - if that makes sense.
Enterprise is the only Star Trek series that I didn't love. But I still think the opening is one of my favorites.
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet.....Mike Post's best! The original Law & Order theme (below from Season 5).
Weeds which was on showtime was great. They would change the opening scenes in the later seasons to graphically draw the storyline as well as have different artists sing the song which was "Little Boxes" Here is Kevin Nealon and Steve Martin singing it Weeds intro sung by Kevin Nealon & Steve Martin - Little boxes Season 8 HQ HD - YouTube Here is one of the early intros with original intro scenes but the intro is sang by Elvis Costello Weeds Intro - Season 2 Episode 1 - Elvis Costello - YouTube
Here's one we've been following on Netflix.
It ain't anywhere as good as The Wire, etc. but the opening credits and theme song ain't bad . . .
And then there was one of my favorite shows of all time . . .
