Well said.
Between this thread and that other one about them refusing to wear orange t-shirts for a potential "orange out" during a Thunder playoff game, the insecurity of some OU people here is on full display.
Whats the big deal? I Love NASCAR and OU Football. I cheered for OSU last year too. I know absolutly nothing about basketball, but Im proud as heck of our home state THUNDER.
The funny thing is that everyone seems to forget the original poster SoonerQueen. She's probably wondering how her thread turned into this debacle. I just think the OU fans are mad because their first NFL draft pick was 52nd overall. It's okay guys, here's your crimson shoes back, I really didn't like wearing them anyway. Seems as if you didn't enjoy wearing the orange shoes for one year but at least now you know how it is for us lifer fans on the real, every year...
College sports are great, but, I have shifted most of my focus to the Thunder. When you only have college options thats what you go with but when you experience professional sports its sort of like maturing in age from 18 to say 35
OUr baseball and gymnastics team is doing very good but no one is giving it any recognition. On the other hand, Does the local news media give any recognition to Oklahoma States wrestling team? Absolutly not. So it balances out. In my opinion.
I said this was a guess.... I've sat twice on the Thunder sideline next to Durants family at $600.00 a ticket X 2. I took the average for the Thunder at $80 a seat, but I believe that is way low. I know the majority of the lower bowl is $135 and $250 a seat on the court side, not counting the first 3 rows. The Thunder actually was on National TV 24 times this year, not counting playoffs. How many National games did OU get televised this year...? Can't be more than 13 or 14 ? I believe the Thunder probably generates more money than the Sooners....It woud be interesting to know.
I was told how much the CHK Arena suites cost on a per game basis, but I forgot......but I do remember it was a ridiculous amount, into the thousands... X 41 games regular season. And they sold out every suite for every game this year.
You pay a club donation plus buy your tickets for OU.......For 2 Thunder club level seats this year, counting the playoffs, I would have paid right at $10,000. And I'm in the corner, not the more expensive club seats. I did get a refund back to my account for $1,100 for the canceled games.
I'm an OU fan and all, but the Thunder has been way more fun. I honestly have a hard time watching the college basketball game anymore...kind of looks like a bunch of high schoolers out there running around.
My son told me that at last years game, they sat next to a retired couple from Grand Junction.....they had Thunder shirts on. He asked how they became fans and they said they liked the Thunders young players and style of ball so they go to the games when they are at the Pepsi center and also at Salt Lake City to play the Jazz.
Yes, listing to the TV commentators, the Thunder has drawn real well on the road...it's pretty cool to see all the KD and other Thunder jerseys in the crowd on away games.
My only response to this thread...
Thunder Up!

I think the reason WWLS sent someone to the Fiesta Bowl and not the Insight Bowl is because it was the Fiesta Bowl and the Insight Bowl. Who gives two nickels about the Insight Bowl? That is why so many consider a 10-3 season a waste, because the Sooners played in a throw away bowl game.
