Did you guys know that Music Choice on cable systems nationwide are merging the "Big Band & Swing" channel with the "Singers & Standards" channel? It's going to be just one music channel called, "Singers & Swing" as of April 15th. I like that stuff and am not happy about the changes. More Hip-Hop though! (Gag me.)
My favorite music is opera, straight ahead jazz, and classical. Not
necessarily in that order.
I say "favorite" with limitations. I like music, period. That goes for Michael
Jackson, too. I'm not on any of his records, darn it!
To be honest, my favorite music is whatever is putting money into my bank
account.
It's hard for me to name a "favorite" type. I like original and music you can feel. You know that the vocals and instrumentals are talking to you. That's because the singers and musicians are making a real effort to convey their feelings. I know it probably doesn't make sense but some of you know what I mean.

You know, Music was the video game of our past. There were no video Games or game rooms....Not a whole lot a television and it was tough to go to any extra movies due to finances....But, we ALL had our Radio in the car....Rock 'n roll...How many of us thought we were just as good as any of the performers...(when we were alone in the car) and then the slow movin songs when our best girl sat next to us....those were the days......No one had time of Crack of Meth .... didn't want to miss a thing....................The good ole days when times were bad.
It was 1964, the Righteous Brothers and T.G.&Y. at 74th. I know you remember that and me.

Hey Bulldog get away from that Chick....Wait a minute, that's hey Bird Dog..Right? I remember you and the Righteous Brothers.. I am the one person on this thread that can remember a lot of things about you....Shall I start??? Naw, guys, be gentle he's just a kid....(to me)....Bulldog was there the night I got Married....Him and The Village Idiot.....remember all the remotes WKY did at the old TG&Y???? how about when I would get the "Big Mike" station wagon and we would go up and down the streets talking about Store Promotions (among other things) raido Blasting....and then Buck Owens himself showed....Almost a riot.....
I remember the crowd tearing up the furniture crawling across it and the appliances that day.
I remember a few good things on you too.....great rabbit hunter of the south. The village idiot kept falling off the hood of my old car and nearly run over him and JB one time. But you were the one that we had to careful of...when it came to shot guns you were dangerous.
Are telling me that you know Bulldog? I thought he was of reputable
character. Is he showin' up at the meetin'?
I'm not going to look...
Is he going to be there?
don't tell me...
help...
I mean anyone who knows Gen64...
OY!
BUCK OWENS? I thought he was respectable. Really?
YOU drove that ridiculous "Big Mike" station wagon? That was a genuine
eye sore! Wasn't that WKY?
I don't want to know...
... was it?
... I don't want to know...
... are you tellin' the truth?
... I don't want to know...
You all is losin' me all.
Get a grip, or sober up...
Forget about the grip... jes' sober up before Saturday...

Back on topic boys...Music of the good ole days......Jeremiah was he really a bull frog? or "Hello Darlin" was that the real way to answer the phone? How about let's go all the way???? to the Grocery store...who wrote these songs???At the next meeting, here is the challenge for this thread.....Bring at least Five (5) old ( NO YOUNGER THAN 1980) Lp records and/or 45 records....If you have a promotional record bring it for sure...maybe Our friend Steve can used those pictures....
Maybe we should bring a record player to play the old albums while we have our meeting.
Who wrote and sang a song in the late '60s that began;
"I am the god of hell fire!
And I bring you fire.........."
It was played on commercial radio wky/koma.
I understand that his concerts were elaborate and great "theater".
The song is called "Fire" by Arthur Brown.
The lyrics are:
I am the god of hell fire, and I bring you
Fire, I'll take you to burn
Fire, I'll take you to learn
I'll see you burn
You fought hard and you saved and earned
But all of it's going to burn
And your mind, your tiny mind
You know you've really been so blind
Now 's your time, burn your mind
You're falling far too far behind
Oh no, oh no, oh no, you're gonna burn
Fire, to destroy all you've done
Fire, to end all you've become
I'll feel you burn
You've been living like a little girl
In the middle of your little world
And your mind, your tiny mind
You know you've really been so blind
Now 's your time, burn your mind
You're falling far too far behind
OOhhh
Fire, I'll take you to burn
Fire, I'll take you to learn
You're gonna burn, you're gonna burn
You're gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn
Fire, I'll take you to burn
Fire, I'll take you to learn
Fire, I'll take you to bed
