Hopefully it stays on its current track as this will really ease the drought in many areas. The water situation in SE Kansas is particularly bad right now.

Rain will be the big story this week and next week it will be the cold weather, possibly the first freeze of the season for many across the state.

Next batch is in W TX right now. Models suggesting up to another inch in C OK.

Progress on the rain shield out across W OK is slowing and weakening. HRRR is suggesting this batch will die out as it reaches C OK. Then there will be a resurgence to the SE. So C OK may be close to finished with anything heavier than light showers.

Good soaking rains across most of SW and central OK. Eastern OK picking up more rainfall overnight. More rain moving in Saturday and Sunday

Cold front has arrived. We will see temps slowly rise late tonight with drizzle and showers developing across the area. Then Saturday evening the main cold front swings through and will send us into the 30s and 40s for a high on Sunday.

Looks like light freezes Monday morning and Tuesday morning. Then a hard freeze Wednesday morning.

Halloween is cold, but dry.

Friday night walkaround for OSU's homecoming wasn't too bad at all with temps in the lower 50's and wind not blowing too hard. Gametime Saturday doesn't look as nice for tailgating or the game.

This is exactly what the state needed to ease drought in most areas, especially with a dry couple of weeks ahead. Hard freeze for all areas except the Red River valley this Tues and Wed.

Looking ahead after a couple nights below freezing (including a hard freeze Wednesday morning) it will warm up again heading into the weekend. Temps in Stillwater for Bedlam should be in the low 70’s with sunny skies (so OU shouldn’t have any problem passing the ball ).

There is a weak system that passes through Sunday that could bring some rain to eastern OK but chances look pretty low. Same for next Tuesday. The next strong storm appears to be around 11/11-12 and looks like another rainmaker with cool temps.

Looks like we're closing the month out with 5.34" in the rain gauge (located a mile west of the I-240/I-35 junction). Year-to-date precip total stands at 37.42" - already almost an inch above the yearly average with 2 months still left to go in 2023.

The variation between different parts of the state this year is really bizarre with areas north of Tulsa seemingly not able to fully recover from the drought even as areas just to the south are at a rainfall surplus
