Do you mean to the East?

Yes, the own it and that lot is almost completely full every day.

Whatever they build there would have to include structured parking.

I know this thread hasn't been updated in a while but I feel that this photo from one of the other threads gives us a glimpse of what seems to be the progress on this expansion project. Look to the top left area of the photo

    RIP tower cranes at Baptist.

Down 2 with no new ones on the horizon for early 2024. It was nice having 8 at once.

Interesting how this one hospital makes up for about 50% of the visible density along the NW Expressway skyline.

It's just such a massive complex, especially when combined with Deaconess and the surrounding medical offices.

It's a huge employer and a big economic engine.

My wife ran into a person she used to work with at baptist tonight. Didn't realize that the old Pacer Center that went to a YMCA had closed. Was told it was because Baptist didn't want to continue lease. Not sure if reasoning is correct ut this land is certainly valuable for Baptist's continuing growth. This area gives them lots of potential for growth, Hopefully they continue fun and fit for kids. I know my kids thrived there when my wife was a baptist employee

I know the main reason for that structure was to tie the old building to a new elevator core, but I suspect they designed the new building to be expandable.

Yes, it was built that way for future heart hospital expansion.

I bet all of those white box/cube looking things on the roof are where the columns are stubbed up for future expansion.

Good catch. The stairway openings have boxes over them too.

The expansive parking lot to the east is ideal for a mixed-use development (with a parking garage) or an upscale shopping plaza.

It's not in the downtown area... it's meant to be a parking lot! Haha!

I would love to see affordable housing built in that lot, as that hospital complex employs thousands.

I see tons of them taking the new BRT every day and the workers come from all over.

As long as it keeps the camper hookups.

Im glad you all said that because the first thing I thought of when i saw it top out was, man this is small. With a very mismatched elevator core tower lol. Makes a lot more sense that in 10 years or something, that they will build up.

I see a new employee parking garage in that parking lots future. I doubt Integris is interested in mixed-use development, but it would be cool if they had some doctor and nurse living spaces. Obviously some like to stay in a couple of campers onsite.

Or is that camper hookup for patient families to use?

Some of the campers are patients' families. Sometimes it's the family camper, sometimes it's provided by a church member or other friend. It's definitely helpful for families when their loved one is having an extended stay and they are from a couple of hours or more driving distance away. There's also a small hotel in the hospital for that purpose.
