This team has been really fun in the preseason. I'm really looking forward to this season. It should be much more fun than the last couple because OKC has so much more talent after swapping out guys like Theo and Ty Jerome for talented rookies. Here's my 5 reasons people should start paying attention if they're not already:
1. Tre Mann: Tre Mann has put on a lot of weight and looks confident. He's smooth as always, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn a corner this season. He's looked incredible in preseason.
2. The core: SGA, Dort, and Giddey aren't vets for any other team, but they're core of this team. They're talented and great guys who are easy to root for. I really think SGA has the potential to be an all-star this season and I'm looking forward to seeing Giddey's next step.
3. The rookies: I am a big believer in Jaylen Williams (J-Dub). He has great feel for the game and is just really fun to watch. Ousmane Dieng is a unique prospect at his huge size with guard feel. It'll take some time for him to put it together, but he has a high ceiling. I'm not as big on Jaylin Williams (J-Will) as a player, but he's a Nick Collison type glue guy. He also is the first Vietnamese (he's Vietnamese/Black) player, which is cool for OKC's large Vietnamese community.
4. Easy tickets: With Chet and another high pick (Victor Wembanyama or Scoot Henderson in a dream world) playing next year, I think Thunder games will startbeing a harder ticket as early as next season. Enjoy getting to see the best basketball players in the world with relative easy. Hey, I make my way up from Texas for 5-10 games a season... I wish I lived in OKC and could go to more.
5. Don't misunderstand "tanking": Finally, it seems among casual fans that they sometimes misunderstand "tanking" as the Thunder not trying to win. Thunder players are trying to win. However, the Thunder aren't going to sacrifice long-term development for winning. That means young guys will get opportunities. The Thunder only really tank the last 5-10 games by bringing up G League guys. That means the first 70 games are going to be fun. Enjoy it! Thunder up!

J Dub showed out big in pre season. I am here to overreact, and OKC would be competitive for a play-in spot if Chet was suiting up this season. Our young squad is insanely good.
Dieng has really been a surprise for me. From all the scouting reports it sounded like he was a couple of years away, but he's shown that he can play in the NBA and his ceiling is super high.
Equally impressed with both J. Dub & Dieng. Don't be surprised to see many of these guys adapting their game to contribute more toward the team effort.
Also the impact SGA & LuDort will have on these incoming players. Glad the rookie core were able to get extended playing time during preseason games.
I know it was preseason, however, Mark Daigneault (IMO) did a number on Popovich (Impressive Dean of NBA career coaches), you know Pop wanted to win that game in San Antonio, the loss put the Spurs at 1-4. Daigneault work with the player he had in that 4th quarter and coached them to victory.

I thought the Thunder played well. A lot of different line ups. Looks like Mark is still trying things. SGA with no preseason play at all did really well.
When you consider the two giants on the T-Wolves and those outside threats from the 3 point line--T. Prince (PF) who went 3 of 4; Nowell (13 points) has always been a thorn in OKC's side.
Thunder did a decent job on the two inside towers, Gobert-Towns 23 & 12 points respectively; the Towers were held to 35 of Minnesota's 115 points. Six of Anthony Town's 12 points came from the charity stripe where he was 6-6.
Omoruyi for his size really impressed me.
If Chet puts on some weight while he's out, and we can get a decent draft pick; Thunder will be ready for the playoffs come 2023-24.

SGA going for that allstar run this year. Tre looking like a good prospect for the future. Dort is real bad on offense.
