    As always, the world adapts.

Lots of work-from-home options which means no one cares how you get your work done, as long as it's done. I have always, always been the type of person that gets up early, gets absolutely tons done, work through lunch, then by 2PM or so I lose my concentration. The good news is I usually accomplish more in that amount of time than a lot of people do in a week. I absolutely hated jobs that required ass-in-seat during certain hours.

I usually go back and do more after a mid-afternoon break, sometimes in the evenings, always on weekends, just not in the regular 9-5 pattern that has been almost a necessity for the last 100 years.

It's one of the things I abhorred about the entertainment industry. I was usually at my desk getting loads done by 7 AM, then half the people would roll in at 10 (or later) and then want to keep you late because they had been jacking around most the day. I loved the one job I had in the financial industry because lots of people were at work by 6 AM because we were on the West Coast and the markets opened at 6:30 our time; we also had a big office in New York and there was a 3-hour difference. Then I would be out of there by 4:30 and would generally beat the L.A. traffic in both commutes, and I'd still get in 10 hours of very productive time every day.

I think the world is finding out there are lots of ways to be productive and we'll continue to see all types of work models.

And to be fair, I've always had a short, intense attention span and I get way more done now than I did back in the 80's and 90's. I bet that's true for a lot if not a majority of people.

That's what is so depressing to me. No one cares as long as you hit your number.

Doing something differently or outside of constructed norms absolutely does not mean someone doesn’t care about their work. I think part of the problem that isn’t spoken about as often is the “other sides” ability or care to realize just because that’s how you did and had been done for decades doesn’t mean it’s the right or only way. Why can’t they both exist. But the assumption someone doesn’t care because they don’t do it just like you is absurd.

Took me longer than I care to admit to realize that RH was Restoration Hardware. Guess they rebranded ala KFC.
They have nice products (assuming the quality has not diminished in past 5 years). Strangely, their towels and linens are best ones I have ever found that are mass produced, but I realize that's not their main area. Anyway, nice get for OKC.

Even before the pandemic, I grew to dislike having to sit and watch a movie all the way through in a theater. There was a time in my life when I'd go to the movies 4-5 times a week; this was when I was in L.A., involved in The Biz and wanting to see almost everything that came out.

I have been to the theater once n the last 4-5 years. And it was painful to sit there.

Even worse, if I'm streaming a movie and it starts to drag in the middle (as almost all Act II's do) I'll just go on Wikipedia and read the rest of the plot. Most of the time I'm grateful I didn't waste any more of my day.

A few years ago I had to sit through class for about 4-5 hours a day over a weekend. I wanted to kill myself, even though I found the subject very interesting. How on earth did I sit through 18 years of formal education?

It's got to be worse for younger people that have only known the way things are currently.
I highly recommend The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to our Brains by Nicholas Carr.

i just realized for the first time today that bringing Arhaus into the development in its own building is changing the massing of the apartments (almost certainly eliminating units) and then also decreasing the massing against NWX by a decent chunk.

Actually, looking at the early drawings it is adding massing along nwx. Also massing doesn’t mean one big building. Having mixed use as much as possible will be most beneficial. We have lots of huge apartment complexes already.

It is beneficial to have mixed use but having Arhaus in one of the few non mixed use buildings in the development and it just seems like a missed opportunity. Still great development and addition but just a small missed opportunity

So, you are saying every building must be multiple uses to have a mixed use development? The mix in this development is vey good, very interesting and looks to be well designed.

Just drove by the development and they are really going to town now with all the construction activity! Fencing now has Oak development promotional material facing the street.

They had tons of site work: demolition, utility relocation, removal of a major street, and big grading issues.

We should start to see foundations and vertical structures soon.

The good part is there will be several large structures all under construction at the same time.

In the first photo, you can see the area for the BRT stop along NW Expressway where the yellow crane is located.

Pete, I know you had mentioned more announcements before the end of the year. Just wondering if that is still the case, or if you have heard anything? I know you won't post until they want you to, and I totally respect that.

Thank you for your coverage on this project! It is truly going to be a game-changer.

Yes, I spoke to the developer last week and they are hoping to make at least one more announcement before the end of the year.

OAK is going to be unlike anything else in the state. It won't be for everyone but it will be yet another choice to dine and shop in OKC.

From everything I've seen, this is going to be completely first-class.

BTW, I looked with an eagle eye at one of their more recent hi-res renderings and they show Cinepolis as the theater in the southwest corner of the project. I'm sure a deal has yet to be done but that would be a fantastic get and a perfect fit: https://www.cinepolisusa.com/.

This reminds me of The Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth. Nice mix of high-end shops and some in the more affordable range with a good combination of dining, living options, entertainment, and green space. Really excited to see this happen!

This is a mile from my house. Can’t wait! I really hope they put a Shake Shack there.

Shake Shack is expanding so I'm sure there will be one or somewhere else in OKC soon.

Been to one in Boston several times and...meh, they're really not that great. We have local places that dish up much better burgers and fries. It's a good national brand to get though, so for that I like the idea of them having a presence here.

This doesn’t seem like the kind of development to focus on getting a Shake Shack. It appears to be more upscale than that. Shake Shack is better than average but not a prestigious brand.
