Dang. I thought it was a near universally applied city ordinance if a CVS was approved for a corner, the opposite corner had to be approved/reserved for a Walgreen's. Will wonders never cease.

Don't think that walgreens won't notice. I bet after this starts construction or opens, Walgreens will build somewhere downtown (midtown or deep deuce) shortly or lease a storefront in the CBD.
No so sure about Walgreens.
They aren't as downtown-inclined and when I talked to their real estate rep a few years ago, he told me they felt the 23rd & Classen store served downtown well enough.
But of course, much has changed since then.
Yep, getting old sucks and I'm fighting it every step of the way...haha... I was at what I believe was the the first concert at the Myriad... Neil Young and Linda Ronstadt... Excellent Show... Young's album cover for "Time Fades Away" was a pic taken of the crowd from the stage and I'm in there somewhere... It was spectacular compared to the fairgrounds arena...
Fixed.
By the way, Neil Young HATED that tour and the accompanying live album, and there was a lot of strife and instability (and substance issues) among the all-star-ish band that he was touring with, so it certainly seems possible that she was better.
My Neil Young show at the Myriad was in (I think) 1990 with Sonic Youth and Social Distortion. Same place, a very different time.
Unlucky post ^
agreed
I had the chance to visit the "Walgreens Upmarket: Fresh" at Sunset & Vine (extremely urbanized area) in LA over the holidays. If this is what is planned at the Century Center, I believe most participants on this board will be pleased. It is unlike any Walgreens I've seen. First of all, it's huge. Secondly, it has a coffee bar with real baristas and a nice selection of sandwiches and accoutrements; an attended fresh fruit bar; a frozen yogurt bar; and a large make-up department that rivals many department stores. Plus, it has all the usual Walgreens fare.
Yes, that particular Walgreens is really slick.
Just wanted to be clear, though, that this will be a CVS, who has it's own urban concept which is somewhat similar but certainly different.
As a moderately reputable poster (if I can still say that lol) I do tend to think this development should be getting more scrutiny than the Stage Center Tower. Based on what stage this project is at and what we're getting on a lot equally as important as the stage center site. "A CVS, wow, downtown OKC is truly big time now! We should be so lucky to have a park-front CVS!"
This one is actually really head scratching...
Yes, north side (along Main) most likely.
This would fill a huge need and hopefully be a key tipping point for more downtown retail.
Personally, I think this is an important step.
Ditto
If I lived downtown, this would be the one store I would want first.
In fact, I'd much rather have a CVS than a full grocery store because I'd like Native Roots to survive, thrive and be rewarded for going in and providing a great service at a very early stage.
The CVS / Native Roots combination would fill a good chunk of the basic needs for residents and when I worked downtown, I would have loved to have had a CVS or Walgreens .
Not sure I put CVS over full grocery, but it's close. Very glad to have CVS in the neighborhood. I hope they can open up before the other tenants do. The sooner the better.
I'm hearing talk of A small market being considered for the Farmers Market building.
