Sounds like you talked to Big Gene....or whatever his handle was.
Sounds like you talked to Big Gene....or whatever his handle was.
That's who I was thinking.
Big Gene was the Tower Crane Operator who was fired for a tower to tower incedental touch incedent. I think it was another guy who posted some great info for a few short posts until someone told him he could not post due to his job...if memory serves
Friend of mine works for Flintco...everyone associated with the project has been told they are not to discuss details with the outside world...all info must be filtered/approved via company PR dept.

Is the sign facing the highway?
Unfer, thanks for the pics.
Five videos are on the way. Four are done, but I want to get stills. Tomorrow for sure.
The Devon Tower is incredibly beautiful at night all lit up. Does anyone know, or can anyone find out, when the tower it complete will it be lit up at night?? I hope it is! To see the tower shining through the night would be a great asset to all that is taking place in the downtown area.
As a minimum, the 3 recessed areas will have LEDs.
Are you referring to the temporary construction lights INSIDE the building? That is what is usually lit. As bucktalk said, the glass is embeded with LED's hooked up to a computer so it can change to any color, but they've only done a few tests and it probably won't be lit up until the exterior of the tower is finished.
Coincidently, I just learned today that there will be tons of LED lighting all through the "crown" on top of the building.
As bright as it will be in the indentations, the crown will have an even higher concentration of lights which will allow them to make it incredibly bright.
I suspect the every day lighting schemes will be more conservative, but they will have the capability to do tremendously detailed and bright shows in virtually any combination of colors, as well as the ability to add lots of movement.
And as we already know, the top of that building will be visible from a very long distance.
Exciting stuff!
Now the tallest in Oklahoma...+/- 163 feet to 43rd floor, add core height and it's over 667 feet.
I was going to add pictures, but it's taking too long to edit them all. I'm still working on stuff from Denver last month...
All these videos include footage of Devon Tower so I'm including them all here.
These have been up for a while already, so enjoy.

This last one has some of the best footage and lighting I've gotten so far.
As a lifelong skyscraper nut and sci-fi fan, I am mesmerized by this phase of construction with the cranes reaching insane heights, the lighting at night, and the sounds of equipment. I get chills every time I go downtown and see it up close. While I'm eager to see the finished product, I will also miss watching it grow and change week after week. I'm convinced this building will win all sorts of architectural awards.
Pretty cool youtube video!OKC skyline at sunrise by Photojournalist Dan Ryan !http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=PnFi4UZSgbc
