OK. When you said practicing I pictured at least full walk-through sessions. That’s more of an access to the facilities and players can get together without direction if they want kinda thing.

The eligibility/scholarship issue has been discussed a lot the last couple days on ESPN radio and the local radio stations. Not being an expert I’ll repeat what I’ve heard. There has long been a NCAA rule that if you are unable to play your sport because the school/conference cancels the program you are free to stay and wait until next season or transfer wherever without sitting out or losing eligibility. The scholarship seems to be up to the school you stay at or transfer to because of scholarship limits and it’s their money. There don’t seem to be any rules about sitting out when your team is playing. Probably no reason for such rules before so there aren’t any. But most everyone seems to think it’s being discussed by the NCAA.

and you have a lot of after the fact information being given to players too... San Jose State waited until after all of the players moved in to residence halls, to inform them that it was a voluntary move in, but since they were all there, they now had to stay there. It isn't voluntary if you don't tell them it is.

I wonder if there is a difference between cancelling the season and delaying the season as far as transfer eligibility.
    No conference has outright cancelled.

Good point. I doubt that the difference has any associated rules since it’s never happened before. This is gonna get real interesting I think. Courts could be swamped soon.

Berry Tramell had a piece on OU limiting ticket sales to 25% of stadium capacity. I think students should have priority in non sky box seating.

Based on how much you have to donate to keep your season tickets this is going to be interesting. I imagine a lot of upset boosters.

25% basically gets all of the 1000 dollar + donors in the stadium if they wish

I don't think the demand for tickets is going to be that high.

I've been a season ticket holder for years and won't be renewing this year.

i think if they let 80k in the stadium it would be full

at 25% aftermarket ticket prices are going to be off the charts

i can't even think about OU texas prices at 25% stadium

That is why students should get priority. The school should not be promoting class warfare based on how much you donate. Students pay tuition and activity fees for activities that are not being offered.

This is about Memorial Stadium policy, not the Cotton Bowl.

Football tickets are extra on top of those fees students pay. I am guessing students will get 25% just like everyone else.

OU students pay 0 dollars to the athletic dept .... other that what they pay for student season tickets (which is optional ) and in the case of football limited

Fair enough. I am just of the opinion that paying thousands per semester on activity fees should entitle to those paying those fees priority. More a thing of doing what is right.

The best deal when I went was $200 for football home games that included all basketball games. Had a great time going to games and thought 200 wasnt all that bad.

At 25% capacity, there's gonna be a lot of upset fans who won't get to see a lot of the games, no matter what you do. I would guess that they'd give out a mix between donor tickets and student tickets.

  19. Default Re: University of Oklahoma Sports

This may have been stated before but OU sent out a solicitation on whether season ticket holders intend to go to games or not. We informed them we were not due to COVID risks and the ticket office will use these intention questionnaires to determine how to allocate the 25%. If ticketholders opt out this year, they will not be penalized for next year.

Kennedy Brooks opted out of the season, that is going to hurt

As a major Sooner fan if they play I’ll watch but I’ve already written this season off as “Who cares”.

I really wish Sooners would cancel the season, it can wait until next year

If it weren't for the potential of how it can affect player standing and pro careers, l would be, too. I wonder how many that are in the age and physical shape group the players are in have had severe lasting effects or have died from COVID?
