Me too, but don't you live in Texas? Also, I think Oklahomans willnalways go to Texas for stuff, but at least we are getting less reasons to all the time. Hopefully IKEA will be in the near future.

Then they are staying at the Skirvin and taking the limo to Balliets. Doesn't sound like the type that need to be within walking distance or an elevator ride. If what you say is the case, why don't we have high end retail downtown where the high end hotels are? In other words what is the logic of putting things that would have a natural symbiotic relationship miles apart from each other?
The Waterford is a high end hotel in the area, or at least it used to be considered high end. I could see a high end hotel in the area, look at all the hotel development around the Galleria in Dallas.

I found the architects website (above) with renderings of "The Outlet Shoppes at OKC" that I haven't seen and thought others might find it interesting. I would've posted the pics but couldn't get direct links.
jarrington00, thanks for the link, most were new to me as well. For those that weren't fond of the colors etc, if the pics of actual buildings (same style and colors as in the renderings) Spartan posted waaaaay back in the thread, there is about a 1000% percent improvement with the looks of the finished project IMO
Drove by the site yesterday - is it just me, or is that color scheme awful?!? Pastel colors galore! Hope they diffuse it somehow....
Is anyone ever going to post pics of this development? Please...
I Agree. It's awful. I don't get why we have to subsidize junk like this.Oklahoma City, along with El Paso, seems to be among their least appealing work in my opinion.
I did a search for wind in this thread and I didn't see anything.
With those canopies hanging overhead, would wind be an issue? Tops being blown off by the wind due to those pointy canopies could be a concern to some shoppers. May poke an eye out.
Really? In most cases those canopies are high tension tensile structures and designed to withstand almost anything short of a small tornado. Since you are dealing with such smaller spans compared to something like a stadium they are even less susceptible to wind damage.
I'm never near that area, but is there anyone that could snap a picture of the progress? i'm amazed no one has done so yet...
I thought about it when I was by there late yesterday. The south and part of the west facades appear to be done. It's ugly.
I posted some video a few weeks ago. Although not current and up to date, it does show some of the exterior.
The SE corner from I-40 westbound today. That's about 1/3 to 1/2 of the side facing I-40.

Glad to see this development in the retail landscape of OKC. Although I have not seen it in person, from the images posted above this style (esp. the color scheme) is not one that will "hold up" over time. It will seem very dated...very soon...if not already! Why couldn't they have picked a more neutral/classic design? Thank goodness paint is easily changed (although it will cost serious $$$ at this place!) Just don't understand that design decision. Hopefully there will be some nice landscaping in and around it, that will help.
