This is approx. 130.00 worth of DLC plus the cost of the base game 39.99= 170.00.
That's quite a investment, but I suppose for the fan that truly loves the game/series they would have no trouble paying that.
Game Developers can get away with quite a bit that would never fly in the "real world".
Just a quick FYI to anyone interested in "Cities Skylines" it is on sale right now at Green Man Gaming for 21.99 in the VIP section. Signing up is free and I have bought a couple of titles there so they are 100% legit.

Indeed, they release a lot of DLC but most is usually just adding some fun things for history buffs like specific encounters or time periods, they usually put out a few core DLC's then a lot of fluff, but none of it is ever required and they always update the base game so the core audience can enjoy their games.
I don't have the game yet, but on the sub-reddit for the game I have seen some awesome cities. I'm excited to play it.
Here is just one screenshot from somebody on reddit.
I haven't managed anything quite that spectacular, but it's definitely a fun game. It's somewhat unexpectedly snatched away a fair bit of my week so far.
Ok, so I bought the new Cities: Skylines game and have beeen playing if for a few days now, here is my review:
So if you are SimCity fan, this is a game that you can tell they got ideas from, pretty much the same set up.
Pros: 1. The different types of roads you can build are pretty cool, from dirt roads to 6 lane expressways with cloverleafs, can make extensive transportation infrastructure.
2. The fact that you can designate different types of districts in your city is pretty nice, and naming them and developing each district in its own unique way.
3. The different types of achievement buildings you can earn are nice. From super malls to plazas to medical centers, is really unique.
4. You can also create mixed-use developments with residential/commercial development developing into each other is also great.
Cons: 1. You basically have to have a supercomputer with all the bells & whistles to experience the full graphics & game play. I have a pretty good laptop, not top of the line, but brand new and decent, but I am somewhat limited on the graphics and game play because I don't have the top of the line graphic card. So if you just have a basic computer or laptop you will not get the full experience.
2. The developers of the game put WAY too much emphasis on utilities: water, power, sewage, & trash. Most of your time will be consumed on connecting water pipes, making a power grid, or solving a trash problem. This really takes away from the game play because 50% of your time is consumed by managing utilities.
3. Roads take up too much space, unlike SimCity, roads took up one little block, on this game is takes of like 3-4 blocks, which is not cool.
4. Residential buildings abandon fairly quickly due to no power, no water, high crime rate, or fire. They abandon if a very short time, and your constantly have to demolish buildings.
5.. Way too many fires, its seems like there are constantly buildings on fire, and your fire department can't get too them all so you constantly have to demolish those buildings.
Overall, its a decent game, nothing too different from the last SimCity installment SimCity: Societies. But if you want to build the perfect city with gleaming skyscrapers and mansions on every corner, this game is not for you, it will take a lot of time and starting over to achieve. This game has big emphasis on design & planning, its realistic, & does not feel like a game, more like work, lol. So if you just want to have fun playing a game stick with SimCity. If you want to get a Masters degree in Urban Planning, play Cities: Skylines, lol.
I have a three year old Macbook Pro and the game runs on High graphics for me. Not too many issues on that.
The utilities can be annoying but after a few cities I had a good system to making it more manageable.
I agree on the roads.
I also have not really seen this happen for me. If they don't have power I usually pause and fix the issue. Unless I am out of cash...
The fires were solved for me with using the fire stations. The fire houses are completely useless. You have to have stations or nothing.
I check reddit.com/r/citiesskylines for all the mods and other fun things. People are a lot better at the game than I!
Some folks made a real-world terrain importer for Skylines, details here.
Definitely look at the Workshop through Steam for mods for the game. Several of the mods have actually already been patched into the core game by the Devs, so the community is really help to address some issues before the standard official patching can take place. It also gives you access to a ton of buildings and different interchange types. I'm still hoping they introduce more road options like they had with Cities in Motion 2.
A talented modder has already made a flight simulator mod for Cities Skylines.

Anyone tried Pillars of Eternity? It is built on the Infinity Engine and its style harkens back to Baldurs Gate, Planetscape Torment, etc. So far this is one of the best RPGs ive played since Elder Scrolls Morrowind, although its a different type of RPG.
Pillars of Eternity on Steam
I was in on the Kickstarter several years ago so I have a copy of it from that, but I haven't had a chance to put any time into it as of yet.
Kinda surprised I haven't seen this on the boards, but what does everybody think about ESPN showing the Heroes of the Dorm finals? I personally love it, I am a huge E-Sports fan and watch a lot of League of Legends and Heroes of the Storm competitions and tournaments. I know people say that it's not a sport so it shouldn't be on ESPN, but if the likes of a spelling bee or poker can be played on ESPN surely there is room for E-Sports.
I enjoy watching esports. I generally watch Twitch during bigger tournaments. I am partial to Dota2. The International is always entertaining.
However, putting it on ESPN really doesn't matter. I can't imagine this brings new people in. If you like esports you are already watching in client or on Twitch.
Alright, it is that time of year. E3 will be here faster than we know it, and I want to know what is everybody looking forward to this year? I myself am always excited for what Nintendo is going to show, I am also pretty excited about the new PC area that will be there this year. I have always felt that the PC gamers are left out of E3 and this year it looks like Blizzard, AMD, Bohemia Interactive, Boss Key Productions, Paradox, Dean Hall, Tripwire, and more have gotten together with PCGamer.com to have their own show this year which I think will be pretty awesome.
Anyway, what about you guys anything this year you guys are particularly excited for?
hopefully there will be a 'fallout 4' announcement! -M
