Is there still no word about what's going in next to McDonald's? The dirt work is still progressing.

I've left messages with the Warr Acres mayor (who they always direct me to) and they never get returned.

I believe this is going to be a Jimmy Johns, per a local councilman.

    Thanks for that info.

From the 4/15/14 Warr Acres City Council meeting minutes:

Paperwork for a new restaurant called Jimmy Johns has been turned in to the Inspector.
Looks like the mystery is solved.

A sign has been finally placed out front confirming that its going to be a Jimmy Johns.

How is this 7 Eleven coming along at this location.

Curious to see their new, expanded concept.

Thanks to Plutonic Panda who is once again stellar in delivering great, quick photos.

This is the NW Expressway and MacArthur 7 Eleven. You can see right away it's much bigger than their other stores (closer to 6,000 square feet vs. less than 3,000) and it has ten gas pumps in five rows, just like OnCue.

I know they have more of these planned and I'll have more on that soon.

7-11 has acquired the corner of NW 23rd and Council across the street from one of their smaller stores and at the corner of Deville shopping center. I'm assuming it will be the same type facility they recently built at NW23rd and MacArthur similar to the Oncues. No construction yet other than curb work on Deville's parking area.

It's amazing what a little competition has done. 7-11 here is now having to up their game.

The same thing will happen in the grocery market if another grocer ever gets serious about competing with Homeland.

I think the verdict is still out on 7-11 local franchisee. They are obviously a follower and not a leader, and the remodeled stores I've seen aren't on the same level as an OnCue (although light years better than your average 7-11). I'm also thinking most OnCue's have more pumps than this? Pretty sure OnCue's on average have more than 10 pumps.

Just in a quick look at a couple, the OnCue at NW Expwy and Wilshire has 9 pumps and the one at Reno and MacArthur has 10. I think that's fairly standard.

The OnCue to the east of this new 7 Eleven at 63rd and NW Expressway has 10 pumps as well, although some of their locations have more, some less.

There is a new fairly small building now beginning construction just in front of the Gattitown at this intersection. I saw a construction trailer but no sign about what was going up.

Yeah been meaning to post this for the last 3 or so weeks. Looks like to me more than likely some sort of fast food outparcel type of setup.

Is this the site where the now demolished Taj / Sinbad restaurants once stood?

No, it's over on the side near the just-closed Homeland, and up close to the highway. They were doing dirt work there yesterday.

They've leveled a pad site. Not a huge footprint. Looks like it will be some sort of fast food place judging from the footprint.

I noticed this morning that they have begun erecting steel framework for some sort of structure. It looked like door and window frames mostly. The front corners were also framed it appeared. The width sure speaks of some sort of fast-food joint, but that is just guess work on my part.

I'll see what I can find out.

But because it's in Warr Acres, it's never easy to get info.

Random guess: A new Whataburger to replace the old one?

The new 7-11 is open as of this morning.

I also noticed this morning that the Homeland Express gas station is now closed. The marquee said "CLOSED", gas prices were no longer displayed, and crews were cleaning out any remaining inventory in the store.

Stopped in to the new 7 Eleven at MacArthur and NW HWY this morning. I must say....I was very impressed. Way better than their most recent stores and light years ahead of the basic stores. It has a lot to offer. And I've never seen so many employees in a 7-Eleven before. It was great.
