Thread: OkcTalk hacked?

    Sorry for the recent troubles.

Seems as if there was an old flash chat application (installed long before I bought the site) that was providing problems and a possible entry point for hackers.

Still doing some work behind the scenes but all seems to be well now.

Looks like today's posts were lost in going to the backup.

Yes, we reverted to the midnight backup.

For some reason, these attacks are largely coming from Vietnam of all places.

Are there too many negative reviews of Pho restaurants on here?

With the prevalence of botnets everywhere, the actual starting point could be almost anywhere. Since every injection I've seen here in the last week or two has had the single word "ok" as its only content, I'd bet on the control point being in Florida, USA, via SE Asia... My second guess would be eastern Europe.

To add to what James just posted - I am getting a similar notice from Norton.

    Should be resolved soon.

OKC Talk is acting up today. Really hard to do very basic stuff like editing text.

I'm paying someone to do a full site clean-up and it will take a few days to complete.

Lots of remnants of stuff that pre-dated my ownership, and we have to literally go file by file and check to see if they are corrupted.

Sorry for the trouble but should be completely fixed soon.

(weary of wandering thru the choppy jungle of possibly faux alerts from "avast" . . .)
(and bearing in mind the heavy burden of previously observed hackers from French IndoChina . . . )

I wonder if what "They" are after is an authentic Noodle Joint with barbeque . . .
    Like . . . Maybe . . . Pho Q? =)

Just kidding, Pete. I know you are far more invested and preturbed by this sort of annoyance than those of us who simply use the site as an opportunity to make things better.

Not only am I'm frustrated and perturbed it's taking a lot of my time and now will cost at least several hundred dollars to get this fixed.

    But it will get done...

Appreciate the patience and loyalty to the forum!

When I type in okctalk.com into Google Chrome browser on my desktop PC, I'm getting a warning each time that looks like this:

Name:	OKCTalk Error.jpg
Views:	86
Size:	16.5 KB
ID:	3204

I could usually click a link and it would load the page for me and there'd be no other problem other than that annoying warning instead of taking me to okctalk.com.

And starting yesterday this same warning has started popping up on my iPhone as well and I can't find a way to get around the warning on my phone when I'm viewing the site in the mobile layout. So, I end up switching to the full-site and loading the page and then switching back to the mobile layout, but when I do this, it's not loading properly and the formatting is all gone so I can't tell what are new posts as it's just a white background with the links to threads. Does that make sense?

Is anyone else having these particular issues?

@OnlyOne - I just checked with my iPhone 4s and the site loaded and fine and links seem to work as expected.

However, one thing I noticed is I can't "Reply With Quote." I just get the spinning wheel and nothing ever happens.

I can second the issue BBatesOKC is having with the "Reply With Quote" not working. Just spins forever. And I've also had the "Invalid forum specified" message for eons, but just assumed it was a holdover from a bad bookmark link following some of the recent changes that I'd just been too lazy to delete and recreate...but perhaps its actually a problem..??

I forgot, but this is another issue I'm having on my iPhone. I can't reply to any threads via my phone. I click the button "Reply thread" but nothing ever loads. I've cleared my history, cookies, cache, anything and everything that can be cleared on an iPhone, I've tried clearing and nothing seems to fix it.

I got a Google Chrome warning this morning.

    It said: Danger Malware Ahead.
Google Chrome has blocked access to www.okctalk.com

Content from artprasy.com, a known malware distributor, has been inserted into this page.

I had this exact same issue about two weeks ago, but it happened only once and I haven't seen it again.

I've hired a company to do a comprehensive cleaning of the site.

It will take a few days but will also serve to identify and close whatever access these hackers have gained.

Sorry again for the trouble but please bear with us.

I've started to get it as well on Chrome. I decided to bypass it since Avast is blocking the trojan each time it tries to install itself.

Pete, I know its early but any idea if any data (emails, passwords, etc) were compromised from all of this?

I'm wondering where they are inserting things. I would think the ads portion is the first hole, but adblock is running on chrome for me so all that is blocked.
