Favorite Coney place in/near the metro?

My favorite footlong coney is Big Ed's (the last remaining location, at 122nd & N. Penn.

The Sonic ones were decent (but I always substituted sliced cheese instead of the grated stuff that tasted fake) before they came out with the new and improved one and I don't think they are better at all (haven't tried the 4 specialty ones, but my mom really liked them).

Disappointed with Freddy's ... very average taste and over priced.

Only time I get Coits is when they run a half priced special on them and unfortunately, their "brick type" chili is very greasy and doesn't agree with me.

Larry, the new Sonic ones are nothing like the old crappy ones.

Coit's hot dogs are my favorite, but I haven't tried many of those listed here.

I agree and that is part of the problem...LOL I preferred the "old crappy" footlong they had before they "improved it" the new one has an odd aftertaste to it and seems tougher. It wasn't the best but would do when I couldn't get to Big Eds. Like I said, I haven't tried their 4 smaller, specialty dogs and my mother loves those.
