Thread: Incentives for keeping companies Downtown

Are we going to create a new town called Bricktown? What makes the following address special in the eyes of people in OKC, Oklahoma, America, the world?

    500 E Sheridan Ave
    Oklahoma City, OK
    73104-4205

Now if we created a small district around downtown OKC and downtown Tulsa and said any income generated in the district or anyone living in the district would be exempt from state income tax would we see high rise development pretty fast. The justification could be that high density doesn't put as much strain on city and state services (which is a fact).

I have been trying to come up with something but it is hard to create something the grows organically in a lot of places. Probably the easist thing to do is street renaming. When I lived in Chico, CA the hip places to live were on Chestnut, Hazel, Ivy, Cherry, and Orange streets because the streets spelled out the name C.H.I.C.O. Here in Jacksonville we don't have a profile address or district either. It is hard to tell what comes first, the high profile address or the high profile businesses. Bay Street was supposed to be our hip street but it never materialized.

Whatever it is, it has to be marketed as the place be. Check out the Midtown Mile on Peachtree.
