One of the best place's I can remember was The Alamo, some of you ol timers will remember it was on Robinson and sw 43. It's a pawn shop last time I was there.

There's a broasted chicken place that also has broasted potatoes in Okema sets on the nw corner of I-40 at the exit, it's a Conoco station. Killer stuff.
Speaking of chicken...
Has anyone had the BBQ chicken at Ken's? It's across the street from the
Amber highschool. The steaks are incredible but I've not ordered the
chicken.
There's something about a restaurant that doesn't have a menu.
He serves 2 steaks, ribs and chicken. He also wears red suspenders and is
very loud and fun. Think of it as a 5 star restaurant in Mayberry.
Fair warning! If you step out of line to go to the restroom the next party
might get your spot. There's always a LONG line and no reservations.
that is a good place though.
I eat at Ken's at least once a month, well worth the 30--45 minute drive from OKC. The chicken is very good, but I usually order the large steak. The salad bar is limited but always fresh, includes fried okra and pinto beans. Ken's is only open on Thur., Fri., and Sat. from 4--9 PM.
Probably because we're living in the present.
I liked the chicken, too. Don't they still have "Chicken in the Rough" at the
restaurant on N.W. Expressway? Their pancakes were great! I don't care
how cheap the syrup was LOL! I always liked it when the waitress called
me sweetie or honey. I thought I was a hot 10 year old!
Now I've got to go and find out. Not that I'm a hot 10 year old! Y'all get
your mind out of the gutter! ACK! I mean if the chicken is still good!
The Round-up in Del City se 29 has a good buffet w\really good fried chicken
As far as fast food fried chicken goes I like Church's and Chester's (Chester's is sold in quick stop type places) and there used to be a Golden Fried Chicken chain that I thought was pretty good.
Made my first (and last) visit to Eischen's on Friday, was not impressed at all, was with a party of 9 and had almost an hour wait.
Eischen's, The Rock Cafe (Stroud), Pop's (Arcadia) & Granny's Kitchen (Chandler) have all evolved in the same way. If your in the area then stop, but don't make a special trip because it's not worth it.
O.K. Guys/Gals:.....Rondvu has posted a flickr thread with OKC pictures of the past....There is one ( on the slide preview) of the old Beverly's downtown. There is a Kerr's picture some of the old Brown's Store pictures.....It is worth your time to enjoy if you get a chance.....I thought I even saw Prunepicker in one of them.......

Here you go. If you look close you can see him talking to Henry Overholser.
I'll second the Alamo on S. Robinson. They posted the recipe they used in the paper a few years ago. I remember it as the Alamo Plaza with the motel courts behind.
Prunepicker, it's located on the SW corner. East of Walgreens, Dry Cleaners, Massage parlor and bicycle shop. You will see the sign.
