Okay, some rooted for TX, some not, but can we all agree about Brent Musburger sucking? That guy makes me want to kick in the TV.
Nope....he doesn't. But then he doesn't throw interceptions as much as Gilbert did either. Texas outgained Alabama in total offense.....276-263. And with 3:00 minutes left in the game and Texas trailing by only 3, you have to admit it might have been a different outcome had Gilbert (a freshman in his first real game) hadn;t fumbled, (Alabama then scored on a 3 yard touchdown which took them 3 plays to get.) Then Gilbert threw a horrible pass direclty to the Alabama player. The last touchdown was meaningless. No disrespect to Bama.....they won and exciting game. And Ingram is awesome.

And yes MM Brent sucked, and it sucked that they didn't give Keith Jackson a mic during the pregame coin flip.
Colt is a class act. If you saw the interview after the game, it was almost heart-wrenching. I say almost because he is from Texas after all. Here is a must read article on Yahoo: Agonizing night for Texas QBs - College Football - Rivals.com
I also think Alabama let up a bit, put themselves on cruise control then had to turn the heat back up. Plus remember, Bama lost Ingram for a good stretch of the game also.
I don't think Gilbert could have driven the field if he had to, all of their scores came off big pass plays, every time they (either Greg Davis or the Bama defense) tried to make him grind it out they faltered. Even when Bama gave them the gifts early they could only get field goals and that was with Colt on at least the first drive.
Bama went into shell mode for most of the game after they got up on them trying to not have their freshman QB make a mistake, I saw a report today where he played with a cracked rib(s).
Like I told one today when he said the "game would have been different if Colt would have played" I said and so you think the OU-Texas game would have been different if Bradford hadn't of re-injured his shoulder since it was only a 3 point game? He just mumbled.....
Anyone who thinks Texas would have won last night if Colt McCoy wasn't injured, did you not see the SEC title game where Bama destroyed Florida? I will admit the first five minutes last night were mind boggling, from Coach Satan-um-Saban electing to go on offense to Texas running down the field and scoring, Bama fumbles and gives it right back to them, etc.
However i do think the Tide Defense would have adjusted to Texas and shut them down fairly quickly after that first drive. It probably would have been more competitive than 37-21 but we will never know.
Texas should have lost the Big 12 game, and they struggled against OU and our backup players. The rest of their schedule were basically cupcakes and they had problems in the first half at Wyoming, at home against the Tech Tards, also at home against ATM. The Big 12 kind of sucked this year too. I do hate to see McCoy injured and he really does seem like a good guy. Im glad Texas lost though.
This was a great day. I was in the Million Dollar Band when we won our last National Championship, so it's been a long dry spell!
At the end of the day, with or without Colt the Texas defense needed to stop the run, which they did not. And remember...Bama's defense has studied tape of McCoy, not Gilbert. LOL is there even tape of Gilbert?
Hey Longhorns!
Hey Longhorns!
We just beat the hell outta you!
Rammer Jammer Yellowhammer,
Give 'em hell Alabama!

Gilbert had some snaps in mop up duty during the season, he played in 9 games (stats include the BCS game), was 30/66 for 310 yards with 2 TD and 4 INT's.
Gilbert was phenomenal in high school, we saw a few of his games. In his final two seasons at Lake Travis (4A) they lost one game early in 2007 to Westlake (5A and where Drew Brees went HS), LT has won the last three 4A championships (2007-Division 2, 2008-09-Division 1) and is on a 44 game win streak. His father Gale was a NFL QB at Seattle (85-86), Buffalo (90-93) and San Diego (95-96). He was also the starting QB for Cal in the Stanford game that gave us "The Play" where the Stanford Band was on the field.
We recruit against Texas, and anytime Texas wins anything, it hurts OU and OSU recruiting (if you want to be bipartisan). It doesn't help the Big Twelve enough to make hurting OU worth it for Texas to win, IMO. So, it was a happy night in my household when Alabama won.
I do have to say that neither team impressed me that much. For Texas to be able to do against BAMA with an untried quarterback what it had trouble doing against OU and Nebraska with Colt McCoy the entire game, makes me wonder just how good BAMA really is. They may have really been up for that Florida game, because they had at least one close game against a lesser opponent this year.
A couple of points to remember here...there was a really long layoff between the Big 12 / SEC title games and the National Championship. Also, BAMA had a big lead at the half and basically they slept through most of the 3rd and 4th quarters. Ingram was hurt and out of the game for a considerable amount of time and their QB McElroy was playing with injured ribs. I think this is part of the reason Texas got back into the game. If BAMA would have played Texas like they played Florida for 60 minutes this score would have been absurd. For once im actually glad OU wasn't playing for the Championship.
good points there stratosphere.
Now there's a report that Pete Carroll, USC Coach, is going to the Seattle Seahawks. If so, it will open up USC for recruiting again. TTech's open, too, so maybe there might be a wide receiver or tight end or 2 that might reconsider.
Ya know what's worse than a Alabama fan?... Two of em.
Considering I live in the middle of Whornville......they would give them a run for their money.
