COTPA just announced free bus fare for Bike to Work Day participants. Put your bike on the rack at the front of the bus and hop on!

    Link?

I've been wanting to get out and go for a ride all spring.....but the Wind jeez. Maybe if we all got something like this so we could recline on the way and have the wind do all the work.

I wonder if it comes with a cup holder?

^ No specific link yet. Just word from Metro Transit Marketing and Public Information Manager that COTPA's Board approved it on Friday, April 3.

That's good, I hope we get an awesome turnout, every year does good, but I hope this year blows it out of the water. That would get our city leaders thinking more about mass transit, walkability, bikeability. All of you who complain about lack of sidewalks, bike lanes, mass transit, should either ride the bus or participate in the Bike to Work that day!

Just a reminder, tomorrow is Bike To Work Day.

Bike to Work Day scheduled for May 1
Reduce car emissions and get fit by participating in the fifth annual Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 1. Ride downtown and join us for a bicycle rally at 8:30 a.m. in Bicentennial Park at the Civic Center Music Hall. The City, the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) and the League of American Bicyclists sponsor the annual event. Group rides are forming now. For details, log on to www.bikedayok.com.

The goal of Bike to Work Day is to:

Educate the community that bicycles are a beneficial mode of transportation

Provide basic information on bicycle commuting available to potential riders
Encourage people to try bicycle commuting

Increase the general public's awareness and respect for bicyclists

Weather permitting, I'll be downtown at 8:30. Although I both work and live within a few blocks of 63rd & Western (and I'll have to ride back to the suburbs after the event), I'm happy to show support for the day.

I'll need to acquire or rebuild a bike to ride the bus anymore. Closest any bus rolls to our new location is just over a mile away. Not real inclined to take such a stroll in the summer. Something about looking like death in a soggy bun if I tried. Can't imagine that's very healthy either.
