As did I. Still awaiting a response.
The last two building approvals issued by the city council have been questionable.
1. downtown chamber of commerce building
2. bricktown fire station
fire121, my father was the assistant chief at MWC fire and the HQ had a slide from the bunk room to the rig room. It was pretty cool, until a councilman's wife slide down on an open house type gathering and slide into the side of the pumper truck. I had to run outside to laugh, but the slide stayed and all worked well. Good luck in getting the design and layout you guys want. After all you are the one's that have to live there 24 hrs on duty.
We keep giving the praise for the bricktown mc'd's, but the last few approvals are not acceptable.
Also the bricktown police station has been one of the better new projects in bricktown, at least I think so.
Something like that. I'm pretty sure the design is being changed, including the site plan, which was what sucked.
I think it should look like this. What do you think
yeah, that even makes Norman fire stations look hot, and Norman houses are very bland, much like the OKC station on SE 66th between Shields and I-35
The irony of this is, fire stations were built in the past with the intention of blending in with their neighborhoods using comparable architecture and materials of those surrounding homes and businesses.
My favorite OKC fire station is the one at 16th & Penn.
Here is a link to the proposed Wellfleet, Massachusetts Fire Station that is a multi-story without a pole.
Town of Wellfleet, MA - New Fire & Rescue Station
There is a more modern LEED rated fire station in Evanston, Illinois being built that would look better than proposed.
City of Evanston - New Fire Station #5
Something more along the line of the truck bays on this proposed Roswell, New Mexico fire station would be better. It would be better as is than what LWPB did....but then that is not a very high bar they set.
What about something like this. This is the new fire station 5 Evanston IL. The first is of the new station and the second is one that is already built. The city web site said that the new station is design as public art.
I tend to favor the Roswell design over the others shown above
What about something similiar to this design but possibly larger?
How come I can't get the image to post?
This really is going to be bad for Bricktown.
MWC is replacing all their fire stations. They actually look pretty good. I or someone else need to dig up pic or rendering. One on N Air Depot is nearing completion.
I am not referring to the way that the Bricktown Fire House will look. I am referring to the location.
