Thread: OKC - Downtown Construction Update

The infill is good but in a way that's too bad. It seems to me that would make the ideal space for a park. So what is Maywood "Park," Betts? Is it just that postage stamp of green where they have the sculpture?

Bah, then where is this park that they boast about? Hopefully it's more than just a small plot of land, only big enough to have your dog go to the bathroom on..

Is there a committee of some kind like the Bricktown Urban Design Comm. that oversees Midtown? If not there should be so more debacles like this don't happen. OKC downtown development is good as a whole but then things like this bank, The Centennial, Residence Inn, etc. make me wonder. If you're going to build a bank at least have the drive-thru lanes away from the corner of a major downtown intersection. Even that should not be acceptable, it should have to include office or residential space above. The RCB Bank of Nichols Hills building on Broadway is a great example to follow for future downtown banks. BTW what bank is this? Midfirst is building a similar suburban bank just outside downtown Norman at Main & Flood which also annoys me to no end...

Also, I noticed the building on the south side of 2nd Street across from the Maywood Lofts is being refurbished, but don't remember if anyone has talked about what's happening with it.
This is correct last I heard (from the developers). It is a later project depending on the success of Maywood Lofts. Also, the other building you are mentioning is a private residence in the works. It will be HUGE and they are adding a GREENHOUSE type room on the roof and perhaps a pool if I remember right. There is another thread on this, I'll see if I can dig it up, Lackmeyer did an article on it.
