Good rain shield developing across SW OK, this will continue to push north into the I-44 corridor heading into lunchtime. Will be nice to rinse the sand & salt off everything.

Wrap-around rain with this storm will be swinging through today. May have a few snowflakes mixed in tonight with any stray showers.

Rest of week we warm back up ahead of a nearly identical storm that looks to come through around Valentines day.

Really a nice, gentle soaking over the last two days.

Very much needed and a good lead-in to what will hopefully be a wetter and milder spring and summer.

NAM forecast this evening showing some pockets of snow mixing into the last of the wrap-around moisture with this storm. Basically none of this would be sticking around on the ground for more than few minutes.

Starting to get some light sleet at my house (6 PM).

Looks like OKC is going to get some heavy wet snow in the next hour or so.

It will likely stick on the grass but not the roads due to the temps which are still slightly above freezing, even where snow is already falling.

This morning's forecast. Oops Sky's cleared and temperature dropped to 29 and I think officially it was supposed to say above freezing all night.

Quick clipper storm comes through late tonight bringing another chance at a quick snowburst. Once again, no long lasting accumulations or impacts expected.

Friday will be colder, but the weekend rebounds nicely.

Next storm looks like rain on Valentines still.

    Thursday night:

EURO rainfall totals through Wednesday. Loving all this February rain

Limited severe weather risk on Wednesday, better chances SE. Wednesday will feel like spring with highs near 70 and dew points in the 50’s

OK keeps being in the western edge of all these storms. There has to be something causing this. It cant keep being a coincidence.

This has been the rain pattern for at least 200 years.

It's the reason why Northwestern Oklahoma is very dry and the Southeastern part of the state is lush.

OKC is right on that dividing line. In fact, the difference between far west OKC and far east is dramatic.

Short term most likely due to the current drought. Long term part of the overall desertification of the Plains. It’s well-documented that the dry Plains are shifting east from the traditional 100th Meridian toward the 98th Meridian (right through OKC and DFW)

Absolutely right. All the trees and stuff here in central Oklahoma were planted by settlers. Our plains right here used to be as rolling and empty as western Kansas. It was the Cross Timbers here that led way to the rolling plains and this is documented in diaries of the explorers in the 1500s. Really, check out early pictures of Edmond or Oklahoma City -- there are ZERO large trees in any pictures. It truly is amazing.

^ Same for Denver. No natural trees except for some cottonwoods along the creeks.

Latest EURO model shows a possible dry slot through central OK as the low is trending further south

Also, few people realize Oklahoma has exactly zero natural lakes other than some oxbows which are just rivers that were cut off.

Every single body of water we think of as a lake is manmade; more than 200 of them. It's amazing to think about.

Rain comes in late tonight into early Tuesday morning. Then it clears out and we will be extremely windy. It will feel like Spring out there next couple days.

LOL, thunder in Stillwater but no measurable rain. Surely, it's evaporating before it reaches the ground as it moves along pretty fast.
