new criterion shows announced:
third eye blind - april 2
rick springfield "stripped down" - april 9
Third Eye Blind is a good get. Been wanting to see them for a long time now.
I'm still hoping for 311 and Gorillaz (although G has probably less than 1% chance of happening)
Love Third Eye Blind! Now we're talking.
Hell yeah to Third Eye Blind, won't have to see them at the zoo/Tulsa anymore. Third Eye Blind is definitely one of those bands that falls into the category of either the Diamond Ballroom or Tulsa (if not playing outdoors), so that's already showing some of the value The Criterion and Live Nation bring.
They may have got all they could out of the Gorillaz, and would probably prefer to close it on a high note (The Fall was a great album). But there have been rumors of a new album they want to record so we'll see where that leads. They rarely did shows anyway so its just a big pipe dream right now. Plus with Blur back on the scene new Gorillaz stuff might get pushed to the side anyway.
The variety in these first bookings almost feels deliberate, like they're saying "yes, you can expect some of THIS too..." About the only things missing at this point that I'd expect to see with some regularity is alt-country/Red Dirt, and Boomer-oriented acts like James Taylor. I'm sure you'll also see occasional metal and hip hop, but would expect those to be pretty carefully curated.
gorillaz are still in business:

Certainly what I'm hoping to see with this, or one of the other venues in progress.... I've been to Tulsa, Dallas, and St Louis in the last few months to see Drive-By Truckers, Lucero, Bottle Rockets, and Old 97's.... Sure wish I could see some of them without having to drive home during the early hours of the morning..... Would also like to see someone bring Cracker or Todd Snider to town.
this sounds like it's right up your alley:

I am curious that since Levelland is booking the bands both here for the Tower Theatre if we will see a drop off once both are up and running or will we see more bookings as there are now more venues.
Just a gut, but I hope the December booking of Brian Regan is indicative that they plan to be planning well ahead in their bookings rather than just grabbing shows as tours are rounding out. If we become a city that is announced early in tours rather just being there to fill in empty nights between already-booked nights in larger cities, we have a much better chance at a large number of shows. If we are just a catch-as-catch-can market, we will be much more hit or miss.
Third Eye Blind was just here last June at the Zoo Amp with Dashboard Confessional. They put on a great show. Interestingly enough, while I was at that concert, I thought that both acts would have been much better suited in a venue like The Criterion. Will most likely get tickets for this show!
Anyone happen to know the presale code for Third Eye Blind?
Surrounding retail success holds key for Bricktown music district's survival in Oklahoma City | News OK
Steve seems to suggest that the success of this venue may contribute to the mix of tenants that end up at the Steelyard. Agree or disagree?

Any restaurants that survive in Bricktown can certainly benefit from nearby entertainment venues. Chesapeake Energy Arena is the main venue attraction. Criterion Concert Hall, Chevy Events Center and other smaller halls & outdoor attractions in the area will provide more opportunities to generate revenue for the area.
Oklahoma City continues to build on various entertainment, restaurants; however lacks a strong retail presence. You'll probably see more retail expansion coincide with the growth of the core residency.
Really feel that the area is ripe for future investment & growth.

There is plenty more coming to Bricktown.
That would be AMAZING! Probably one of my favorite music groups at the moment, but I didn't see it on their website yet. Looks like they play Coachella right before that and then bounce back to the UK in June. So if this is true I imagine a fair number of people from this part of the country will head to OKC for this show.
