Quite frankly it looks terrible.
Quite frankly it looks terrible.
This is far from terrible. It might look different but not terrible.
I like the top half of the project. The ground level though makes me think WTF...
Those bricks they used are just one problem. Add to it the blue awnings!
A good friend recently remarked that it looks like a prison.
That entire east facade is just...so...weird. Like what is the deal with the blue awnings, seriously? Then you have those bulky roof drain pipes protruding out of orange brick. Speaking of orange brick, we also have a super random blank wall of it right there on the corner. This building needs ivy growing up it immediately.
I rather doubt it, but maybe - just maybe - that blank wall is going to be advertising space? That would do wonders for making this feel less... eurgh... and I normally hate advertising.
Not every development is going to be an aesthetic masterpiece. I am just happy for more dense residential near downtown. Keep filling them in!
To be honest, most of these buildings look butt-ugly to me. Some of them are kind of ugly-cool (LIFT), but I see no difference between Maywood 1, Maywood 2, the Metropolitan, Chisolm Creek renderings, the updated Avana/Legacy Arts, etc. Honestly they're all just rectangles that overlap each other and stick out in certain places for no reason. If I really twist my brain weird and stare at it funny, I can kind of understand. But this isn't my preferred architectural style at all.
The only thing that makes this one worse than others are the drab colors. It's like 5 shades of brown. At least it's not baby diarrhea green, like the Metropolitan.
These buildings might be really nice inside, or have a lot of amenities, or whatever. But to me, almost none of the new housing looks appealing at all.
Crickets...
The restaurants are still happening here per Andrew Black, the main proprietor.
Just talked to him about this a couple of weeks ago.
Nope.

Wait what happened to Larry and his car wash? Did they force him out? I thought he would be going into the new building?
But how's business?
Incidentally, the sidewalk-blocking signs were gone last night. Not sure if my report or something else caused it but I'll gladly take the credit
