There are three or four people that claim fame to that drawing.....If you want a copy of it just PM me with your address and I'll send you one.....Generals64...I do know that it was there when I started in the Seventh Grade (1958)....and in 1962 the Senior class had some decals made that said U.S. Grant for the back of your car windshield and they had decals of the General.....I don't remember which class had the General put in the tile in front of the Auditorium though....They remove it when they tore the building down and put it in the New School.....

Every village has at least one idiot, so Im not sure which one your looking for. If it's me, "here-I-is"! So do we have a Grant General memory to discuss? If not it would probably be for a private message.

General 64 said you were on here but I didn't know how to find you - Thanks for showing up.

I want to know about your Roosevelt memorabilia. We didn't have a yearbook and all I have from Roosevelt is a 9th Grade chorus program from May 9, 1961. Miss Redwine was the teacher.

Class of 2010-2011 will be the 50th class of Roosevelt. Quite a milestone.

I was just wondering what you have and will you share?

    Do you remember
"The boogey man, lemonade stand and takin' your tonsils out
Indian burn and wait your turn and four foul balls you're out
Cigarette loads and secret codes and savin' Lucky Stars
Can you remember back that far?"

    USG class of 82 -

    I remember:

Coach Savage I had Drivers Ed, JV baseball, and Football with Papa Duck. Really enjoyed him.

Coach Dean Choate - "well hey" and "are you LD"... this was not a compliment

Shotgun Willie - The red and gray team bus with "Shotgun Willie" painted on it.

Beating Edmond and Putnam City in football.

Winning State in Baseball '81 (I was a reserve with a broke hand courtesy of 59th street "activities").

Making a wood rack in welding (Mr. Gleaves) and still using it today.

Hanging by my feet from the eye-beams in the breeze way.

Watching Carl "Hindu" Henry play basketball when I was a freshman - Is that his son that now with Kansas?

Mrs. Overstreet, Mrs. Douglass, Mrs. Wear, Mr. Cable. Mr. Gleaves - all positive. Somebody else commented on Mrs. Overstreet and her brother Bob. Their sister Sue McDougal created the Jefferson Statesman logo....

    Dr. Sarah Fuller -

I remember buying spirit bricks for the wall.

I remember Ice Cream Socials in the court yard to start the year off.

I remember running the stairs through both wings during two a day football practices.

I remember doing gravel oval track racing (kinda like drifting) around the gravel parking lot in back.

I remember filling sorry for the kids that were bussed across town and were unable to drive off campus for lunch or had to ride the activity bus for events.

I got this from a different website but it is so stupid it fits here. Parent must be a Grant grad.

"When the roads are bad school is cancelled. They should do the same when temperatures are so frigid like this morning. Children are inclined to catch a cold or flu on a day such as this."

Turns out she drove her kids to the bus stop and waited with them. Only time I was driven to school is when I was caught ditching!!!!

    Give me a frickin' break.

She's probably just pissed because she had to get out of bed early and then had to gop outside.

Old "cliche" I can remember walking to school in a Blizzard and was on time and so did 95% of kids in the school (Chester A. Arthur). They didn't close school then because they had this "weird" Concept called "The Neighborhood School Program"......The only time I rode a school bus in OKC was when we would go to The State Fair Parade or some other Band Program.....Now I did had a bicycle and most of the time it worked (got stolen in my 7th grade year)...Probably someone from Capitol Hill....I know , that's "Profiling"..... But then, we also had our "feet" (nature's school bus) to use to get to school...(ON TIME).....

I heard today that U.S. Grant locks the doors to prevent "tardy" students from entering. Seems that they had almost 200 in one morning. Parents were contacted and many of them did not know what time school started.
Not picking on Grant. This I am sure is a problem at most all schools.....

The Lock Down at Grant seemed silly since they said that most of the parents didn't even know what time the kids were to be in school.....That didn't work when they could use the paddle....I did NOT want my backside slapped with a piece of a board....especially by Clarence Huffman......He fought Joe Lewis....didn't want any of that.....A tardy was good for Two SWATS...Boy or Girl.....

The parents should know start time and end time of the school day. Don't use they are unaware as an excuse. The superintendent of okc schools has the right idea; fine them! Not the student, fine the parents. Can't pay? Jail time.

Maybe they can create new places like Taft and Boley. You start cracking down on the truants and you are going to weed-out a lot of illegals I am sure.

That's probably what is wrong with most of the schools now.. Parents that don't care.

Mine knew what time school started, how long the lunch period was and how long it took to get home from school.............

When my girls were in Norman Public Schools in the 80's & 90's the schools let you know what was going on and if nothing was done they turned to law enforcement and the judicial system work on it and that included the City Atty. There are fines and a declared truant has a probation officer to answer to. I suppose it's still that way...
