Drove through this area over the past weekend and how just with the Domino alone that intersection looks lightyears better than it had before. Glad there's stuff going in there. When we lived nearby I would have loved to have had all that stuff there and it looking really nice. That old Shell that was razed was so ugly. Things are looking great over there!
Man, HTea0's going in everywhere........but Edmond! How in the world can Edmond of all places have an HTea0 drought?
HTea0 is good, don't get me wrong. But it is blowing my mind how popular it is. On Monday at about 3:00 I thought I'd swing by the 23rd St. location for a refreshing drink and I was not the only one. The drive through line was through the parking lot and onto 23rd for probably 50-60 feet, backing up traffic a fair bit. Pretty amazing (and it does seem like it's a perfect Edmond-type establishment).
I office at that corner - it's about to get a lot busier. Though I wish things other than fast food were going in, they are at least much better options than they could be.
The love for it is nothing different than love for AM coffee stops people do at places like Starbucks, SummerMoon, Dutch Brothers, etc. We love iced tea and we go multiple times per week. We used to stop at places like OnCue, 7-Eleven, Sonic and let's face it sometimes it's old tasting, like it's sat for hours. But at HTea0 it's always fresh and they've got it staying cold and circulated in the things they use.
I've always thought it was crazy seeing folks lined up forever at coffee places in the mornings even though I like coffee. So I can certainly see why people would think it's crazy to see the tea place packed all the time.
Don't forget to download the HTeaO app to earn drips if you go often.
For me, yes it is the many different flavors and combinations. I get what you're saying. I guess I'm missing something on the morning commercial coffee rush. I would never go and spend $5 on a cup of straight black coffee at Starbucks or Dutch Brothers as I brew my own at home in the mornings.
A venti Americano is not a black coffee.....
A venti Americano is two shots of espresso and hot water.
A cup of black coffee is a drip coffee. A venti would probably be around $3.50 which would be about $2 at McDonalds.
If I get a drip coffee at Starbucks, it is usually when I am socializing at Starbucks - in which case, you can get free refills.
And a Starbucks Venti Americano is 4 shots of espresso - equal to two to four cups of drip coffee from a caffeine perspective (lots of variables here) and is 20 oz. of coffee - which is a lot of coffee at one time. Not saying it's the cheapest thing in the world (and I'm not really a Starbucks fan at all), but it's kinda like saying you're surprised ordering a fast food double cheeseburger is exponentially more expensive than the cost of the raw ingredients to make a single cheeseburger at home. Of course it is.
Absolutely and totally makes sense.
Totally didn't mean to hijack the thread. Bottom line is that whether it's a $3.52 cup of black Joe or a $4.60 Americano, folks will and do happily pay a premium for coffee and tea at these specialty places even though they can make this stuff at home.
Anyway, Mayfair really is looking good.
Actually, Five Guys is going south of HTeaO in the northernmost bay of a small strip center; will have a drive-thru.
Other than filling a couple of small bays in that same new strip, that will do it for the east side of May and really Mayfair in general. The Taco Casa and new strip center on the NW corner of the intersection was never part of Mayfair.
Nothing in this world will make me a fan of strip centers with large parking lots or drive-thru businesses, but I’m so thrilled at the resurgence and momentum of Mayfair. I wish they could’ve remodeled/kept all the structures in the style of the SW structure but seeing the area become much more active is the next best thing.
