I'am bout tired of people painting my cannon. Prune & 64 and you too 78 & 60, can ya'll not do sump'n bout that?
Hey! I did my best but this guy named Semrad insisted that I clean it!
After I was sentenced to a 'private' school, I met one of the guys that was
instrumental in painting the cannon on a regular basis.
I launched a Bab-O bomb in his room. If you don't know what a Bab-O bomb
is, then never mind.
It tickles me when people of the early 60's talk about painting the Cannon....The cannon was given by the class of 1965.....Red/Gen and Danny Parker (deceased...Viet Nam) were the culprits who located and hauled the cannon back in to U.S. Grant. I don't know the particulars but I did know the guys. If Red/Gen reads this....Tell us how it all came about.....Seriously.....
One of my brothers went to HS at Moore and he has told me that he had painted our cannon a few times.

Probably did...But, it wasn't even on the front lawn until 1965 in the spring. That is probably the best thing left by any class at Grant. My class (1964) left the Organ that gathered dust from day one.....The big thing was the question whether it was male or female. The class of 1964 did however leave the Alma Mater song....You probably didn't know there was an alma Mater song did you????
yep, Talita was a teacher there when I was there. I have a video that I took of our last day of high school and it shows Talita in the old office when she was very pregnant...
This is a U.S. Grant alumni site. http://usgalumni.com/ It's a pretty good site and it's free.
Just got an e-mail from an old Grant General buddy about an old Grant General buddy (Jerry Fisher)....I don't know how to share the video but it's of Fisher when he was the lead singer for Blood, Sweat and Tears....it's on YouTube...whatever that is....But, it's cool to see someone you knew being in the spotlight even though it was 1972.....
Grant alum and BST!
That's two strikes against him.............
Was watching Pawn Stars (gotta be careful) and they showed a Cannon (Like Grant's) and that thing brought $ 30,000.00. I wonder if Carltons Keeper could tell us the ENTIRE story of the Acquisition of the Cannon? I know he helped picked it up and deliver it to the school......What did they pay for it? Where did it come from?
I saw on the net where a can of Progress Beer was worth around 3 grand. Better start digging around in OKC.
I know someone may have posted it already, but who did the original drawing of the grant general holding the banner?
Also is there somewhere on the internet to find a posting of it?
