Thread: Mayfair Shopping Center

Pretty big difference in just over a year.

I know it's just a gas station and carwash, but this is a massive improvement over the hideous, run-down place it replaced. They have only installed some of the landscaping; much more to come and it should be quite nice. There was absolutely zero landscaping there before and was a complete eyesore.

Regarding new projects with landscaping....I notice a majority of new landscaping is rarely maintained. What starts out as a beautiful improvement become an landscaped eyesore. Don't believe me? Look at 99% of new Braum's stores. The new Braum's in Edmond on Covell has landscaping that looks horrible even though it's a fairly new store. I suppose there is code or enforcement to maintain new landscaping at businesses?

Braum's is one thing (they aren't good about keeping the inside of their stores clean, either) but I've noticed OnCue does a good job, and even has nice Christmas lights every year.

The Domino locations I've seen are very well maintained and they are going way above and beyond at this location.

As far as code violations, I'm sure it's the same as homes: you have to keep the weeds cut down and trash picked up. Beyond that, I doubt much can be done.

I did notice today that the Casey's at 39th & Penn has a ton of dead shrubs and weeds, disappointing because they have put a bunch of money into that property.

I am VERY happy to see the Shell brand. They’ve been slowly disappearing throughout the city.

Those photos you posted comparing the EZ Shop and adjacent shops as it stood to the C-Store as it now stands really illustrates the size of the new c-store. I didn't realize the size and scope, even having driven by, compared to the EZ Shop.

Seems like if any new gas station isn't a Buccee's Jr, then it's not a real store any more.

Site work has started on Panda Express.

Wish they would start on the Taco Casa. It's going to be much closer for us than driving to Yukon.

Taco Casa hasn't even applied for building permits as of yet, so it's going to be awhile.

LOL, I just had to say this post made me completely laugh this morning -- and it couldn't be more accurate! We apparently are still in the "bigger the better" society aren't we.

Buccee's is cool, tho, just sayin'.

You can see Panda Express under construction. Car wash is finishing up. On the NE corner of 50th & May, Walgreens is replacing its parking lot.

Drove by WG Saturday and we were very surprised that they were going all the way down to the dirt, nice to see instead of just patching for decades and *never* replacing...

Actually had to visit that Walgreens yesterday due to missing the time window to pick up at 23rd and Classen. Not an easy parking lot to navigate right now haha.

That Walgreens is crazy busy which is probably why the parking lot looked like it has been recently bombed.

There are almost always long lines in the drive-thru.

This has long been an underrated and underserved intersection. Everything around there stays very busy.

I think the City missed a golden opportunity to add a dedicated right turn lane from NB May to EB 50th. I've never understood OKC's aversion to installing these when rebuilding a major intersection.

I think 50th is still a neighborhood, 2 lane road with a couple 4 way stop signs and residential driveways mid block. This suggests to me they don't really want more traffic than they already have. Certainly they will get traffic when Oak opens, but I don't think it is ever gonna get busier than needing a center turn lane and stop light(s). Much like Britton Road between May and Pennsylvania.

Looks nice and tidy. Lot cleaner look o the corner. A few trees along the road would ne nice but understand they can obstruct sightlines of oncoming traffic when pulling out

There are trees along the roadway of the Domino property.

They couldn't put any along the east side of May in front of the renovated strip center because there isn't room without taking out parking spaces, and they barely have enough to meet code.

    Code requires too many spaces...

They could get a variance. Why wouldn’t the city grant it? They let Shadid get away with so much crap but won’t grant a variance to trim down a few parking spots?
