It is your turn I wore them last time, and wear that half cut winnie the pooh shirt you were sporting at the last meeting...very stylish.

You know, some people might think we are fighting on these threads when they don't realize that we know each other face to face. I quit wearing a speedo before you were born and I gave the Winnie Pooh away. My memories of OKC go back to the very early '50's....

You may may have the same problem I do. Went to buy some new pants. My length for years was 34. Too long! Had to buy 32's. I'm not gaining weight but shrinking.

Here's one (thank you Pruner)...do you remember going to get your Levi's? and your mom having you get them at least two (2) inches longer than you needed? You would be able to grow into them....Then, you would turn them under and eventually you would get taller and the white line around the bottom would let everyone know that you grew some that year in school? Or, no one wore a pair of jeans with the knees worn out of them...Your mom would patch them from an older pair and like no one would notice your jeans were patched? I know the other day I spilled some battery acid on a new pair of Levi's....Can't wait to get them from the cleaners, had them starched and Iron...Maybe I'll look like a short and Heavy Alan Jackson.....Gotta have style you know...thought my wife was gonna kill me though over the jeans... Oh Well what we give up for an image....Just think Prunepicker used to be 6 ft. tall and wighed 157.....oh well, that's another story and memory from OKC.....

I remember the smell of new Levis and how the cloth was twice as thick as the bluejeans today.

The "Back to School" ritual was as follows....Get up Saturday morning before school started...Breakfast....Head to either Airline Shopping Center or (If lucky) Capitol Hill...Lunch was at the Old Coney Island....My sister had to go to Brown's and look...She never could make up her mind....they always ended up going back....and then it was to Levine's in Capitol Hill or C.R. Anthony's any where else....Two pair of Levi's (501's for a long time) or Wheat jeans...You older group know what I mean there....A package of Socks, Underwear (briefs of course) and a package of (hopefully)V-Neck T-shirts...And then came the shoes....Whatever was within the budget the first time....If I wanted Wdges with taps on front and back...(don't know why) I had to earn the extra....From that point on I was a lawn mowing fiend.....Then two shirts...maybe three..However, I got the Hand me Downs from the guy across the street....He always dressed cool so I didn't care...Now off to school...Oh yeah new tube of Brylcreme .....I'm ready....Let's rock and roll....4th Grade????? come on...

The taps were out of style when I got to CHHS, but we tried to wear them at CHJH. Only problem was they were against the "rules". Used to be fun to see how long through the school day before a teacher made you take them to one of the shop classes and jet them removed. Loved the horseshoes.

Mompicker never realized that us little pickers would wear out a pair of
jeans before the first washing. Some people are slow but they're old.

Hey! I'm still 6-4 (make that 64 inches) but I'm taller than soonergirl! I
think. Maybe she's bending her knees so I'll feel better.

    Nawwww!

As far as my weight, it's a secret. A 'Big Fat' secret!

The thing I hated about new Levi's is that Mom would not let us wash them before we wore them for the first time. You could hear us a mile away and you could end-up with rashes in some of the strangest places. Cornstarch.

That awful memory was totally gone until you brought it up. Now I'm going
to have to go back to therapy.

Prunette put my best friend in the washer. I'd only worn them a few weeks.
Some women get testy about some things.
