Ditto on the tower cam being back online although I fear my productivity level at work will go back down. =) Myself and a co-worker were beginning to have withdrawals. Cannot say this enough.......thanks to all who post photo's of the work site.

Does anyone else's "Thread" pages look different? Also, I'm not seeing the link for the cam, old one doesn't work for me... pardon if I'm just slow tonight... thanks.
new direct link here should cover your problems, mburlison. http://www.tnttri.com/OKCTalk/DevonConstructionCam.jpg
If it's ok Pete, I'd like to share with the national forums. ...
Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!
Thanks everyone!
Hey everyone. It's been awhile since I've been on here. I drive by downtown regularly and see the progression. It's looking great. Does anyone know how tall it is supposed to be. I remember it started out at 950 ft I think. Then I think I heard they knocked it down to 850 ft. What's the latest news on that?
If Devon only needs a 850ft building than OKC gets a 850ft building. I would have preferred the orignal height, but 850 ft is a pretty good sized tower for a city the size of OKC. Only the biggest of cities see buildings over 1000ft and many of the those projects are on hold or cancelled.
In Chicago, the spire is most likely cancelled and they also have a ugly unfinished structure which was suppose to be waterview tower that has now been cancelled.
Towers 2 and 3 at the WTC site are only going to be built up to ground level for the time being pending market conditions.
These are just the few projects I can think at the top of my head.
I don't think embarrassment is the right word to use here. I'm not sure what you mean by "other places" but OKC has no say in how tall the building is. It's a gorgeous building that trumps anything else in Oklahoma so I honestly don't see where the embarrassment is.
Nm
Love the building and everything, just would like for Devon to shoot for 1,000. It would have more impact to show the nation how strong OKC is. 850 just seem too average to me.
Thunder I wonder if you've ever been outside of okc to other major metros to even realize that this is still very impressive.
I know its impressive. Just wonder why they are not shooting for 1,000 now. In 10 years, they'll wish it was done.
Too many speculators on here...criminal...
Remember the tallest building in Dallas is 921ft., that's only 71ft. taller than ours. I'm disapointed it didn't end up being 925ft., but I'm really proud of the of the height it's going to be. It will be the 31st tallest in the U.S. when finished! Going to look great in the skyline! Hopefully more new buildings are coming in the future (convention hotel, etc.)
I am very satisfied with 850 feet. Considering the skyline as an entity, I even wish it were slightly lower than that. The beauty of a skyline comes from the interplay of the bulldings with each other. When one builiding is significantly taller than all the others, it tends to make the remaining buildings look smaller---the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs effect. I remember when Charlotte NC added a building (Wachovia, I think) much taller than the existing buildings and the resulting skyline looked odd. Later other builidings filled in the gap, and today its skyling is stunning. Be that as it may, to say that 850 feet is an "embarrassment" is, well, embarrassing.
WHAT?!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!? C'mon seriously! That has to be one of the stupidest comments I have EVER seen you make! After seeing what time these comments were made, surely they were made after SEVERAL alcoholic beverages.... 850 ft. is embarrassing but if you add 150 ft. it's all of the sudden not embarrassing? Yeah, because I'm sure there's 850 ft. buildings popping up everywhere right now. Actually... If someone feels like doing the research (maybe somebody knows), Tell us how many buildings are being built in the U.S. right now that are 850+ ft. It's amazing how we get something SOOOOOO BIG for the city of OKC and the image of OKC and some people on here are STILL negative about it and it's NEVER good enough.
A big THANK YOU to Watson410 for putting into words what most of us on here were thinking about the comments in question! I will say that I am embarrassed for those who think having a beautiful new 850 ft. skyscraper is embarrassing because it's not the height they want. I'm glad we aren't all that negative on this thread!
And btw Thunder, i would hold off on advertising for the so-called OKC Market Center until there is an announcement or some sort of concrete evidence of this "transaction". Just my opinion though. :-)
Only 5, all in New York. The Chicago projects don't count in my opinion because construction workers haven't been at those two sites for over a year now.
