Very, very nice. I applaud Clayco.

Honestly reminds me more of Hotel Black or Ramsey Tower (City Place) or the Rockefeller Center buildings I previously mentioned, or really a myriad of buildings from the 30s or so, from all over the country. Not seeing that many direct architectural connections between these buildings and FNC or Biltmore; only casual connections thanks to the more obvious homage to the period itself.
4th & E.K. Gaylord?
Comment From Andrew
What do you think of Milhaus trying to found another spot for their tower?
Steve Lackmeyer: I think you'll be interested in reading my OKC Central column tomorrow!
I agree, the office towers remind me of the Biltmore more than FNC. Nevertheless, the new office towers are very Art Deco in style... Neo-Art Deco?

Comment From Tim
Is this the development that would make other cities jealous?
Steve Lackmeyer: Nope. So now this must REALLY drive you nuts.
Since the Populous images came out, I've suspected ClayCo might present a plan for four towers. But honestly I can say I'm blown away by how good these look. I am very impressed.
It does feel like a revival of the WPA type of Art Deco, less ornate than the Chrysler Building, for example. Typical of Robert Stern.
I think this is a win for context, as the design emulates OKC's historic skyline while distinguishing its age. Art Deco will become even more dominant on our skyline.
Clayco did show just a couple of renderings with a possible hotel, but it was not featured prominently (it's the shortest building shown here):
And to think OKC's skyline is changing thanks to those evil greedy corporate one percenters
A doubletree or W would be a nice hotel of that size
It's not up yet.
I certainly love the 4 tower proposal, renderings and all. It's such a classical, but modern design that will be an amazing addition to the city.
My question is what are the odds between the two proposals getting approved? Just asking because I'd certainly hate for the clearly less desirable one to be approved over the Clayco proposal, because some in the city could say "this is too dense and would bring too much traffic to downtown".
Milhaus will not be approved. Clayco is doing the SC site, and the proposal is the perfect match. Nothing to worry about here. The city would rather have a $280 million development over a meager $80 million development. There is no traffic downtown, even when these are completed. Clayco already has a pending contract to buy Dunn's law office.
First off let me say I am very pleased with these projects. I think OKC is blessed to be getting these and for that I'm thankful. I can't help but wish we could get 8-10 more stories in at least a couple of these buildings. It wouldn't be a stretch and with the proper dressings on the top of the building, it would really make more of an impact on our skyline and balance it out so much more. I think if the demand is there, could it be possible to have a couple of 550-600 foot towers which would dramatically impact our skyline so much more. Keep in mind, I am not unhappy, just stating how amazing it would be if a couple had more of an impact.
Would you all happier with these 4 mid/high rises or 2-3 high rises in the range of 550-600 foot range? Personally, I would prefer the latter. Regardless, a very big day for OKC and I hope more to come.
Let's not forget the possible hotel in the mix.
I agree with you. The Clayco proposal appears to be the best design. This is where the investors step up to the plate. Our track record looks good with what has been developed recently.
The future demand appears to exceed the current supply.
Our city could be on the verge of a building boom!
Well, I'll be honest here, I would have liked to have had the two residential combined for a 50 story tower, but I'm still thrilled with this development. We can't forget we have the Lumber Yard tower Seriously though, I'm hoping Continental's tower will be a very tall skyscraper and I'm hoping the Preftakes Block ends up being over 30 stories.
I am in love with this and very excited to see it here!
In regards with the other office tower, Steve kind of hinted that a possibility of a bank as an anchor tenant.....
Panda, I agree. Why not something like a 35 and 20 foot residential towers? This would give us about a 560 foot tower and 300 footer, which would be oh so nice.
