What were the names of all the people that worked in the office?
I can only remember;
Opal Hampton
Barbara Mize
In 1965 Jean Newberry and Helen Baker were the attendance clerks and unfortunately Ms. Baker was a very good friend of my mother. So I always got caught when AWOL.
There was Peggy Campbell and Bea Bradley was the Nurse.
Opal Littlefield was the primary person in charge of class attendance as of '60. It was her signature that I perfected so as to make spending money forging hall passes (which I stole.) I think I still have a pad with the top one signed and ready to sell for a dime.

Tonight's football scores
U.S. Grant 13
Capitol Hill 7
Last week
U.S. Grant 29
Southeast 0
Grant Rules!!!
That was in overtime.
Where were you guys?
Seems to me someone said there would be more Grunt alum then CHHS at the game.
That someone did not show either..................
probably hiding behind the couch.........
Not trying to rain on this lil' Grant football parade, but I attend Southeast High, and Grant didn't have 29. We did. Matter of fact, this was Southeast's 11th year in a row to beat U.S. Grant. Let's not mix scores up shall we? ;]
Wow impressive maybe grant is back!
Lol. I'm not "tooting" any horn. I'm juss sayin' that Southeast won, not Grunt. And besides, the 60's and 50's are way before my time; trying to boast Grant's dominance back then versus now isn't going to sway me. LIS, I was juss sayin'.

Hang in there Buddy, maybe they'll keep that school (Southeast) open long enough for you to graduate.....Just kidding you anyway. in the Fall of '63 Southeast beat Grant so Bad that at our 45th class reunion (July of this Year) we made a vow not to discuss the Grant/Southeast game....Come to the next meeting and I'll buy you a hotdog and a rootbeer then you can be one of the old guys.....We don't care how old you are and the fact that you go to Southeast....We have some other "slackers" from the old days of Southeast....
This was the first high school football game I have attended in about 20 years. First time I have ever been in that stadium straight.
Bad observations: Students being checked out with a metal detector wand.
No band from either school.
No pep club.
About a dozen cheerleaders for each team with some 200lbs. or more.
Asking around this is true for all inner city schools.
No bands.....No vocal groups......Unless it's sports it's not dealt with.
My brother in-law teaches at Western Heights which still have most all of the extra curricular activities. It seems that today's teachers feel their work day is from first bell to the last bell. No need to stay longer. Not part of their job.
Only staff to serve as "observers" at the game (stop trouble before it starts) were athletic staff.

PapaOU...Sorry...the wife made other plans for me.....still my first cook......but, the band director (2 years ago) at Grant was using the Jefferson Jr. High DRUM LINE for the games...he had (maybe wrong) 9 students from grant in the Band..
My wife teaches at Carl Albert now...the Jr. High has a FULL band and Choir and the place is so organized its scary.....Teachers are where they are supposed to be and they do their duties as scheduled and no one complains.....Why is there such a difference?????
Midwest City, Del City, Bethany, PC, PC West, Choctaw, all the Edmond schools.......................
All the surrounding schools, not sure about Moore Schools all have bands, pep clubs...............
We are in a sad state of affairs......................
I am sure glad that my two local granddaughters attend Norman and Moore public schools...
If not I would be running to that third job to pay for tuition to Mt. St. Mary's or such...............
When I was at Grant we fielded 150 plus members in the band.....My Junior year we combined both Grant and Capitol Hill bands for a half time....Over 300 students with "fire twirling" Batons with the Majorettes...What a spectacle...My girlfriend at the time was one of the Majorettes and she forgot and put Hairspray on her hair.....lighted Baton plus hairspray equal a Micheal Jackson impersonation.....She had short hair on Monday after the Friday game.....
