I'm doing more reading and less posting, that should make some folks happy! Thought I would go ahead and beat you to that one. Actually my feelings have been a little bit hurt due to the fact the Gen/78 never converses with me anymore. I guess I will have to send him flowers or something, ya think? Jellen, QueenoftheSo and Soonergirl have all abandoned me too, it's lonesome at the bottom.....
NAH...they would probably be dead ones anyway.

Gen/78, how about some live Red Roses and a box of chocolates, would that put you in a better humor? Go ahead and accept them, you know how you like chocolate and the wife will love the Rose's!! I'll have Gen/64 and PaPa bring them to you!

Contour wax is what you used on your hair when you had a Flat top or a "Boogie" to keep it standing straight up...Now they use some sort of 25.00 gel..Probably the same thing only in a different bottle.....you can still buy Contour wax or Butch Wax whichever.....

Did you see the film Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

George Cloony and his "Dapper Dan" ?

Dapper Dan, Contour Wax, Butch Wax, Sportin' Weave..............

    It's all the same.

    Pomade..............

Pomade (also called pomatum) is a greasy or waxy substance that is used to style hair. Pomade makes hair look slick and shiny. Unlike hair spray and hair gel, pomade does not dry and often takes several washes to remove—a special shampoo, though, may be used. Other de-greasers include olive oil, dish washing liquid [1], and lemon juice.

Most pomades contain petroleum jelly (and in fact petroleum jelly can be used alone as a pomade) and mineral oil, and many also contain some sort of wax. They may be anhydrous or emulsified with an aqueous carrier, which makes them easier to remove.[2] They may also contain perfume and coloring agents. A plethora of pomades are still in production today and vary in factors such as weight, shine and scent. The stiffest will have a higher proportion of beeswax while the lightest may have a higher proportion of oils.

Well Gen/78 I bought 32 dozen red roses and 14 SOUTHSIDE kitty cats and have been lying here with those southside kitty cats licking my wounds, and man o' live do they have scratchy tongue's! The Roses have all wilted now, so I guess I've done what you said. My question is when are you having me over for Sunday Dinner?

There is a plaque on the Centennial Clock on the Northwest corner of Commerce and Walker. Took my camera for a snapshot. Well the thing had nothing of Capitol Hill past history. Just why it was there, donors, dignitaries....

Not to come away empty handed I decided to snap where Fred Jones was. While I am there take a picture of the carpet store that later became a grocery store. Moved on to where Cattleman's Mall was..................
Well I ended up walking to 25th and Broadway first moving up the north side of blocks taking pictures of those buildings on the south. Return trip was taking pictures of the north side while walking up the southside. You get the idea.

Just for General'64 took pictures of the front of the building and the TG&Y tiles in front of each door. Went around back for the sign above the back door. Could not get a good picture because the parking lot is now fenced and topped with barbwire.

I have more I want to share with others but will do it on another thread........................

How well I remember this time of the year with TG&Y. Every store was putting the merchandise on the sidewalk for Memorial Day....We would have trailer loads of Grave Wreaths. Flowers of every color and the excitement of Summer was almost there.....How many of you guys every got a folding chaise lounge at TG&Y? How about your mom and dad buying their grass fertilizer or a new TG&Y Golden T Lawnmower. One year the store manager challenged the Stockboys to see who sell the most Dollars worth of merchandise off the Sidewalk. We each had a seperate Cash Register and the battle was on. Whoever won got two (2) days paid and a set of Lawn Furniture....I drew the short straw to work the early shift.....So, I did the best I could.....However, no one said we couldn't come back and work for free.....The dad's would seem to always buy Lawn Mowers in the evening time....Yep, I specialized in selling lawnmowers.....take your choice three 7.99 chaise lounge chairs or five 49.99 lawnmowers.....My dad really enjoyed the lawn furniture for Father's day....Me, I enjoyed getting two paid holidays....Gotta be thinking all the time....

Hey, next time you go to your mom & dad's home see if they have a 20" TG&Y box fan. I would imagine that there is still TG&Y merchandise in everyone's house to this day.....The company closed in 1990....They were bought out in 1986...

I still have a TG&Y birdbath in my backyard and a plaster bust that I my sister and I foiled for my mother for Mothers Day. We learned how to foil thanks to Decorating crafts with Becky. I bet someone even remembers her theme music.
