I wasn't sure about the 1,100 appointees. I do know that appointees are subject to a background check. He's probably close to being on target on that figure. In fairness to Dr. Shadid, it wouldn't be in his best interest to divulge his sources--this could compromise his sources and put others on the spot.

Yeah he was definitely baffled a bit, and not at all confident in his figures.

I just checked the OKC City Council Agenda for Tuesday, Mar 4. Should make for an interesting day.

    Be more specific. Which lies?

Are you sad that your boy Shadid sent out the hateful gay-baiting mail? I haven't seen any anti-Shadid mail in my mail box. If you have, please feel free to share with the group.

I also haven't seen the mayor's mail trying to promote the hatred of gays to get votes. Have you?

    Again, which lies?

It must be sad and disappointing for you and the other DRED minions that Shadid didn't get crucified in direct mail and negative TV ads. That is, after all, what you promised would happen. You had your supporters wound up about some kind of "unprecedented outside money" that was going to be spent to attack Team DRED.

Must be a real bummer to run against a campaign that is solely, "Our guy is doing a good job and our city is improving." Meanwhile, nothing but bile and gutter tactics from your chosen candidate. And you're still losing. Big.

Shadid disavowed that mailer, but I think that's a lie as well. This was delivered on the Friday before election day--before the media could beat him up too badly about it before election day. Just another lie from a desperate campaign doing what desperate campaigns do.

I didn't think anything could be more pathetic than that mailing -- and then I read DRED's "apology." Wow. What a dum-dum he is if he thinks 1) Anyone buys that, 2) Anyone would even recognize that as an apology, and 3) that mealy-mouthed prattle would undo the damage caused by the mailing in the first place.

On the last weekend of the election, instead of trying to reach out to gain new voters, Ed Shadid and his pathetic campaign are trolling around Facebook trying to offer "explanations" to the gay community as to why Ed screwed them over.

This shows just how utterly incompetent and undisciplined Ed is. It's what we've known all along.

I must say, though, that it is quite impressive when a candidate somehow manages to perform even worse than your already low expectations.

As even David Glover will admit, Shadid is his own worst enemy. Once again, in his own words:

Today, I was blindsided by some of the language used in a mailer from my campaign. I did not authorize the language in the mailer and my campaign manager, who is a gay combat veteran, also gave specific instructions to the consultant who drafted the language that it not be used.

The focus of the message on today's mailer was to highlight Mick's duplicitous stance towards the LGBT community. While I have always been a fierce advocate for the LGBT community, Mick waivers from running on an anti-gay platform in multiple elections to accepting an endorsement this week from a handful of gay Oklahomans. While this language is regrettable, I will continue to relentlessly advocate for and point out injustices against every marginalized community in our city.

In response to the question "what does okc need to do better at?" He talked about coming up with a "plan" for the city and he said, "How much is it going to cost to provide police, fire, medical transport and water to 620 square miles." His push all along has been to increase police and fire presence in okc and he has no idea how much it is going to cost.

"This mayor is obsessed with building a mile long park downtown separated by a ten land super highway with no plans on how to pay for the operations and maintenance of this 70 acre park."

I will say my biggest problem with Ed is that he does not have concrete ideas of his own, he just attacks and attacks the doings of his opponent.

Or how to pay for it. If he thinks $3 million for a park is something, try the 200 police officers he wants to hire, plus firemen, plus benefits and pensions. What's his plan? Same with buses. One of the COTPA people was asked what it would cost to implement the bus system outlined in the fixed guideways study, which I'm sure would be the ideal bus system for OKC per Ed. Not counting the cost of purchasing the equipment, I think the estimate was $40 million per year for O&M. He's never given a plan for anything. It's easy to promise people things when you have absolutely no intention of carrying them out. He knows he doesn't have the council backing to get anything passed. In fact, one of them told me he joked about a resolution, "Just get me to oppose it and everyone will vote for it." That's not very funny, actually, if you're hoping to be mayor. It's sad commentary on your coalition-building ability, which is what is important in a weak mayoral system.

We have a huge problem in America with folks who wake up each morning just looking for something to bitch about...Unfortunately social media and cable news gives them their daily fix.

    Here it is...

    Dear FOP Members:

I am writing to ask for your support and your vote on March 4th.

I have given the city everything I have. I have completely changed the conversation and city politics will not be the same going forward. I have successfully pushed the conversation in this campaign to focus on public safety and the need to fight the decay of neighborhoods in all sectors of the city.

If we are going to be a big-league city, it is time to act like it. As mayor I would never hide from a public debate and I will always be available and willing to explain my policy positions to the people of Oklahoma City. As mayor I will stop the practice of withholding studies and information the public needs to make decisions. My loyalty is only to the people of Oklahoma City.

There is one obligation that I hold sacred. I have sworn to God that I will be a servant leader and fulfill his mandate in Proverbs 31:8-9 that I should speak up for those without a voice, for the destitute, the poor and the needy. The city's "good ole boy" network will always have a seat at the table; I intend to give everyone else a seat as well.

As mayor my door will always be wide open to the FOP. I am so grateful for the men and women of FOP and I strongly believe we can have a special and productive working relationship for years to come.

I need three things from you at this late hour in the campaign:

I need your vote on March 4th.
I need help distributing door hangers to supporters over the next three days as well as making phone calls and distributing yard signs. We will be at our office at 7th and Hudson at all hours of the day and night. No amount of time donated is too small. Feel free to call as well at 212-3068.
Please call your friends on the contact list on your phone as well as tell your friends, family and neighbors that there is an election on March 4th and ask them to vote for me for a more inclusive, transparent and fiscally responsible city.
I am grateful for your support and I look forward to moving the city forward. With your help, I will be a mayor for ALL of Oklahoma City.

    Sincerely,

    Ed Shadid

    VOTE!

Do not let poll results dissuade you from voting. It takes going to the voting booth to make polls become election results.

His surge came from Hughes and Sarge. Still behind almost 40 points. Cornett supporters cannot assume anything - worst thing anyone can do is assume enough other people voted.

Ed will pick up pretty much all of the other candidates' votes. The mayor's topline is essentially unchanged, which could be statistical noise in a poll with a margin of error. In the end, Ed will get about 35% of the vote. The mayor should be around 60% or more.

But this won't happen unless you VOTE!!! Every one of you on this thread should vote! VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! Polls are meaningless without your votes.

Trolling..you repeatedly posted large bodies of text, large graphics and large fonts to spam up the forum when you don't agree with something posted.

In 48 hours it will all be over. Seriously though, I've always thought Edgar and perhaps you, mkjeeves, had been charged with repeatedly posting to cover up anything negative about Ed.

Regardless, I doubt there are many undecideds anymore. And I suspect a lot of the late undecideds never get around to voting.

Hopefully a lot of people care enough about the future of OKC to go to the polls.

That seems to suit some Mick supporter sensibilities of behavior. There are laws you know, for when some people don't have ethics.
