What is considered fast food anymore? Sitting in a Drive Thru for 10 minutes? Yeah In N Out is more on the quicker service side but I have waited less at those place I have mention before than I have at In N out or Mcdonalds, or wendy's at certain times of the day.
I have also been disappointed every time I've gone to Whataburger for quite a while now. I thought it was just me, but evidently not.
INO is pretty good for fast food and I think a large part of their current appeal is that we don't have them readily available.
The holy trinity of "Burger Places Not In Oklahoma" are all in and around Frisco/Plano - INO, Culver's, and Shake Shack. Of the three, I would hope for Shake Shack first in OKC.
I'd love a Culver's.
Glad others have noticed the drop in quality at Whataburger. As soon as they sold to that group out of Chicago I figured this would happen. I used to love their burgers but they just taste off now.
Whataburger is ass. It's so awful.
That out of the way, it's ridiculous that In-n-Out is in Denver and soon Albuquerque, but OKC or Tulsa don't have it. It's high time they expanded into Oklahoma.
Maybe I'm the odd man out here, but for whatever it's worth, I haven't noticed any decline in the flavor/quality of the items I typically order from Whataburger. Not discounting the experiences reported in here, but maybe I'm not getting the same things y'all are getting? I'm usually going for the Patty Melt, the Sweet & Spicy Bacon burger, or a bacon & cheese Whataburger, and those all taste just like they used to - to me at least. Same with the fries and onion rings. I'm also a big fan of the chili cheeseburger lto they currently have. Breakfast is just as good as it always has been too - especially since they brought back the jalapeno cheddar biscuits. The only thing that's been really off to me since the sale has been service; with few exceptions, it just takes forever to get my orders nowadays even if I order online.
That said, I'd welcome In-n-Out if they came to OKC without hesitation. They do make a darn tasty fast-food burger, even if it's not my top favorite... and it'd be nice to have the option.
I think Whataburger is the same as it’s always been for the 50 years it’s been sold in OKC. I eat their food couple times a week. Usually good. Sometimes not. Just like the other fast food joints I go to.
In-n-Out is great and I will not tolerate slander.
I think they will show up eventually. These franchises have to be careful though. The market is very competitive. I remember Five Guys was the next big thing and I noticed the one on Northwest Expressway closed. I think the fact that In-n-Out doesn't franchise to third parties gives them a slight advantage in terms of quality control and over saturation.
I was raised on a Braum's burger and will always prefer that burger over most fast food burgers. That being said I think Spark feels like a fast food place, but has a great burger that does not taste like fast food!
Having worked in QSR for 30 years it really comes down to hope much the employees care, and what time of day your going. You Lunch crews tends to working there longer are older and care more about their jobs than the evening kids crew where they will serve you anything and not care.
In and Out have good burgers but their fries are trash
Agree. Haven't noticed an issue with food quality at WB. Usually go to the Norman store, and stopped for a while due to extremely slow service, 30+ minute wait time for an in store order, and if ordered ahead 15-20 min. would still have 10-15 min wait.
But recently they have been on top of things.
No, Boulder is correct. Five Guys is not fast food - they do not prioritize speed of service and convenience, they prioritize quality. Hamburgers are cooked fresh to order. They also don't have drive-thru windows. That puts them solidly in the "fast-casual" category. (This is also the case for Shake Shack, btw)
While In-n-Out is very high quality, they do prioritize speed of service and as a result they have a drive-thru window. This puts them in the "quick service" (or QSR) category.
Although sometimes there is some overlap, these are pretty well-defined categories in the foodservice industry.
