Thread: 2015-16 OKC Thunder

I was pretty hopeful coming into the season. While I am a little disappointed in how the Thunder have played -- particularly that they seem to be reverting to all the old habits that I hoped Donovan might address, I think they'll come around. Unforunately, the Warriors are far, far better than I imagined. So far, they look historically good. I won't be surprised if they end up being one of, or THE, best team of all time. It's not just that they're winning; it's how they're winning. They are the championship favorites by a wide margin.

Agreed, we need KD back and healthy and everyone to stay healthy to mesh. We need as many games possible before playoffs to learn to play TOGETHER. Right now we are winning on sheer Russell hero mode.

I am going to start thinking of this as a transitional year and keep hoping for the best. Still a lot of dialing in and tweaking to do.

^ I hope not but I would love to see Singler's minutes cut and have Serge wake up. He's in quite a funk, not only shooting but also defensively and on boards. And 3 of 29 from 3 is brutal as a team. KD get well!

Team is not anywhere close to being able to hang with the Warriors in a series but I guess we can say that about the rest of the league too lol. I would think even with a healthy KD we will still need to pick up a solid shooting guard before the trading deadline.

I did not like Singler at all last year, but after we resigned him I convinved myself that Presti, etc. saw something in him at practice that didn't show up on the court last year (mainly because he was filling in KDs rotation vs. coming off the bench with a healthy KD). So far, I have seen nothing to justify playing any more than a couple minutes a game. He shot selection has been pretty questionable and he's even struggled when he's been on the corner or elbow 3s. Morrow looked back to his normal self last night.

I think Singler over Morrow has a lot more to do with how awful Morrow is at defense.

Is it that hard to find a two-way SG to come off the bench? It seems like we've either had a defensive specialist with no offensive threat or a 3-pt specialist the past few years... or longer.

Bright side is we just beat a pretty solid Dallas team without KD. We're going to stumble for awhile, but I think the team we see come out of the All-Star break (barring any injuries) is going to be as good as anyone in the league.

SG has historically been the position that has been least filled with talent. If anybody is a two-way SG, they're probably starting.

The first half against the Jazz tonight is the best the Thunder have looked this season. Obviously KD being back is huge (and he's been on fire), but everyone just seems to understand their role. The Jazz are really struggling with our defensive length. Besides a couple dumb shots, Waiters made some huge plays.

It's nice to be reminded of what this team is capable of... Hopefully the second half is more of the same.

Oklahoma City Thunder 111 Utah Jazz 89

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Utah Jazz - Box Score - November 23, 2015 - ESPN

Thunder are transitioning into Billy Donovan's system; they still have more work to do (16 turnovers) vs. the Jazz (21 turnovers). Although Ibaka & Dre look a bit lost at times; their confidence factors has improved. Thunder were 11 for 27 at the 3 point line.

The T-Rex connection (Durant-Augustin) both hit 3 trays; each player went 3-6.

Predicted to be a low scoring game because Quin Snyder has the Jazz playing defense. Utah ranks 3rd in the NBA in defense point allowed 93.8 behind San Antonio (91.0) & Miami (91.8).

Hope Mitch McGary (Puppy) is okay!

We put up 112 against the Spurs and 111 against the the Jazz... well above their respective averages. Our offense is there when healthy, and I think our defense will start to play better as a unit throughout the season.

We remember Reggie, a great Oklahoma City Thunder addition:

    Reggie Jackson's lament.

There are not any grudges and there will be no reprisals.

Reggie is happy to be gone and the Thunder management are happy he's gone. Win-win situation.

However, look for Reggie (the pissed off piston) to play at the top of his game--he'll do some damage. He'll feed that beast Andre Drummond. Pistons will fall short.

    Oklahoma City Thunder 115
    Detroit Pistons 103

Disclaimer: Westbrook will show Reggie what a real 'wedgie' feels like; he'll snatch a knot in Jackson's hips.

That was a sure exhibition of Billy Ball. Donovan has got this team on track and they're buying into his system.

    Classic Russ.

I've never heard a returning former Thunder player get booed like that in their first visiting game. Harden gets booed pretty good these days, but he brought that upon himself AFTER his first game back by spontaneous crowd taunting and chippy play. Pretty much every other guy in the past has gotten anywhere from a polite golf clap to an ovation. Not Reggie.

He can have an off night and still have an impact on the game.
