Shadid courting the OCPAC vote cannot sit well with most of his supporters.

Did anybody get Ed's mailing today? Where he says the convention center and hotel "plus interest" "could" push the total over $800 million. Then he says "because the hotel can't make it on its own our city government will be forced to own or heavily subsidize the hotel..."

He's going to be a mayor for "all of OKC, not just downtown."

It's too bad you can manipulate the facts in public mailings. Too bad the low information voters sometes fall for this crap. He doesn't care if he divides the community either. Anything to win....

Do you have the link? I'm assuming this was his speech to OCPAC?

Shadid courting this vote shows that he is desperate and has no path to victory.

Actually, an $800 million dollar convention hotel would be AWESOME.

    Yes please.

So Shadid is actually trying to make people believe that our convention center will cost near as much as Jerry World... Who believes this crap? Are people really that stupid?

The people who believe it are those who want to believe it, the paranoid who are sure all their tax money is being spent by the "plutocrats" on themselves, and those who will believe anything that's printed. Luckily, Shadid's credibility has been a bit damaged by some other things that have been printed.

We got his preposterous mailing and got a good laugh out of it. The grammar atrocities are epically bad. It's designed to make Mick look like a lying crook but it actually makes Ed look like a lying, desperate fool. Totally amateur work.

Yes, I received his mailing rhetoric and couldn't believe what I was reading. Does he think that he can fat-duck the voters with this type of misinformation? I've lost what little respect I had for this varmint.

If he becomes mayor; it will be a step backward for Oklahoma City. I've left word for his campaign to take me off his mailing list.

The venom salivating from his mouth could be toxic for the future of Oklahoma City moving forward.

I enjoy studying campaign materials. Perhaps someone here can share them for those who won't otherwise see them.

Here's the backside. I didn't photograph the front and now can't find it. It had a picture of Mick by himself and one of Ed outside with his kids. It implied Mick only wanted to spend money on downtown and Ed was all about neighborhoods, I believe. Maybe someone can post it.

Typical Ed. A shred of truth mixed in with outright lies. The only thing I DO agree with is the Chamber study being made public. If our public leaders are using private studies to make determinations in the name of the people - the taxpayers have a right to see the study.

But the rest is absolute rubbish. Just an example - who has advocated a government-owned hotel?

What makes this even crazier is that Ed is using misinformation in this election to argue that we were victims of misinformation during the Maps 3 campaign. Really?!?

Actually, it was not Ed's kids. It was Ed with another woman and her kid. Pretty weird. They also dug up the most sinister-looking photo of Mick they could find (it wasn't very sinister).

The grammar is horrifically bad, though. So many mistakes. Overall, a very ham-fisted effort.

The message is important. The messenger is possibly more important, and it would be difficult to find a worse messenger for your cause than Ed Shadid.

His message seemed to go over pretty well at the OCPAC meeting.

Yes, nobody said he can't tailor his message to fit whatever crowd he is addressing even if most of it is misinformation.

Edgar, Did you go to that meeting ?

My friend said that there were others who were muttering about him, especially about his past history, on the way out of the meeting. I thought it was an odd speech, personally. He didn't seem particularly comfortable, and he didn't explain a lot of what he was talking about. It seemed a bit ivory-towerish and awkward, to me. We'll see. Does hate of the Chamber junta (sorry, couldn't resist, it's so funny!) trump concerns over his past history and his actual politics, which are not at all conservative. Again, depends on how much they're paying attention. I suspect a few will buy into it and most won't.

He dodged the question, then answered a question no on is asking (should OKC own the CC hotel?). No one is advocating for that. It showed he is willing to tell lies to whoever is in the room to make them like him more, instead of setting the record straight and standing up for what you believe. Meadows is no idiot. in fact, out of everyone in that room, I've got the most respect for him. He's much more pragmatic about these positions. Lots of good chats with him and I never walked away thinking he was completely unreasonable. My suspicion is that OCPAC won't be a noticeable voice behind Ed at all. Too many inconsistencies.
I'm sure the members of OCPAC can't wait to see the City of OKC spend millions of dollars building bus shelters.
