I saw Elvis in concert in April 1956. It was his second appearance. He was backup for Bill Haley and the Comets about Oct or Nov 1955. I never heard the story where he got banned after a concert. I just thought it was because he started doing movies and quit touring anywhere for about 15 years. Wanda Jackson was one of the singers who sang before Elvis in the April 1956 show. That was at the Municipal Auditorium. The best show I saw there was in the fall of 1959 - Dick Clark's Cavalcade of Stars -- had a lot of the top artists of the day.

If you read Wanda Jackson's Bio you'll find that she used to date Elvis.....While attempting to get the Christmas tree lights down (not my favorite thing) I found a stack of 78 records from Bill Haley to Bill Monroe....Don't know where they came from....There was one jimmy Rodgers in the stack and "Blue Moon from Kentucky" by Bill Monroe was there also. HMMM....
Guess the magical van strikes again......
