The same building will be the defining project of 2 distinct generations for this city.

    That's awesome.

After reading the new updates, i'm liking this even more. Still wondering what the Vault will end up being, but i didn't even know the skylight was fake right now!!!!!!!!!

Yes, there is a roof built over the skylight then artificial lights between that and the glass.

The FNC was built at a time where there was not central air conditioning and natural light was important. The base of the tower was designed in a u-shape specifically to allow natural light into the Great Banking Hall and to provide cross-ventilation to the lower floors.

The natural light in that space should make a big difference.

FNC has the red light illuminated at the top today. First time I have noticed it.

The red light (beacon I presume) has been lit since the lights were turned back on, it just doesn't rotate anymore.

We shot this image the night that Gary & Charlie closed on the sale. The beacon and most lights were on, but you'll see a few not burning at the base of the mast, and none are illuminated at the base of the crown (metal flashing below the mast and above the top floor).

Did Gary Brooks ever decide on some finalists and who might get a tour?

Demolition at First National continues. From a pile of metal studs and duct work to 'easy to haul' cubes in 3 hours. #Recycle #LEED

Interesting hash tags on that tweet, #Recycle and #LEED.

Gary was kind enough to let me join him on a tour a couple of months ago. I've been all over that building over the past couple of decades but still managed to be surprised by a few things. I'd never been in the vault for instance, which is incredible and sprawling. I had no idea that safe deposit boxes received so much daily use, but the area inside the outer vault for customers to access their boxes was by itself shockingly large. As in, they planned it for dozens of people to be there at the same time, all in private stalls.

I was also really interested in the cleaning of the art and the stone in the great banking hall, which reminded me of what was done a few years ago in Grand Central Terminal. The cleaning and restoration work is going to be incredibly painstaking.

But honestly the best part of the tour wasn't of the physical building but instead a virtual reality tour of the finished spaces. His architectural firm has output detailed renderings onto about 40 experiential slides that allow you to stand in remarkably realistic places throughout the finished building, via Samsung Gear VR headsets.

The tour made it crystal clear that this is not just a renovation but a game-changer (I don't use the term lightly) for OKC on the level of Devon Tower. The finishes and spaces will be nothing less than incredible and will set an entirely new standard for this city.
