Businessman says he'll run for Senate

Oklahoma City businessman, Kyle Loveless announced his candidacy for State Senate District 45 last week. The Republican hopeful seeks to replace term-limited Senator Kathleen Wilcoxson who will be retiring next year.
Loveless grew up in the South Oklahoma City area and has been active in the family business started by his grandfather in 1948. Over the years, the small shoe repair business has grown into an international manufacturing business with three generations of Loveless men at the helm.
A graduate of Georgetown University, Loveless has interned for U.S. Congressman Ernest Istook in Washington D.C. and later worked as a legislative assistant where he says he was involved in several pieces of legislation that affect Oklahomans, including agriculture, energy and natural resources, among others.
Almost two years ago, Loveless opened Phoenix Consulting, a corporate and political consulting firm in South OKC. Its success is marked by clients, Congressman Istook, small businesses, chambers of commerce and Fortune 500 companies. His experience as a businessman is what Loveless says would make him an asset in the State Senate.
“I have a lifetime of experience being a businessman and I think having that will help bring about common sense conservative change,” he said. “It seems like Oklahoma sense, or common sense, goes out the window when they get down to 23rd and Lincoln.”
The primary election for District 45 will be held in the summer of 2008. Loveless said he is announcing his candidacy now so that he will have ample time to talk to the people he will represent if elected.
“I’m working hard to meet as many people as I can,” he said. “You don’t learn the issues just by talking to city heads. It takes time to get out and talk to people.”
Loveless said he and his wife, Summer, have begun the adoption process and hope to expand their family soon.
Loveless will have a campaign kick-off party Thursday, May 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at his campaign headquarters at 4400 SW 21 Street. He said he is also planning a kick-off reception in Mustang sometime in June.
