Thread: Tru by Hilton

    I40Meridian Tru by Hilton

I saw on Twitter this morning, ground was broken today for a new Hilton brand to the city called Tru by Hilton. Found this video online of what the concept looks like (reminds me a bit of the Aloft):

Does anyone know where this hotel is going?

I know there are a number of brands that have a similar feel to this, but it reminds me specifically of the Hotel Ibis brand, which I stayed at several locations while in France last summer.

Don't know if this is the same one, but it's about the groundbreaking.

I think it's one of the new hotels going in on the former La Quinta site on Meridian right off I-40.

Judging by the buildings in the background, I think you're right.

Here is the picture from Twitter I saw from Mick Cornett's Twitter:

I thought Meridian & I-40 too because of the batting cage in the background.

    Yes, that's it.

They had demolished the La Quinta a few weeks ago.

    Official Hilton Release: http://news.hiltonworldwide.com/inde...m/detail/30565

"MCLEAN, Va. & OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - On Friday, less than four months after Tru by Hilton's public debut, Hilton Worldwide (NYSE: HLT) broke ground on the brand's second property, located in Oklahoma City. The celebratory event, in keeping with Tru's forward-thinking and innovative personality, swapped out hard hats and shovels for 3D artwork of the hotel's exterior design, which allowed attendees to feel as though they were part of the hotel. Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin addressed the crowd and Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett and local Councilman Larry McAtee also attended Friday's event."

This hotel opened about a week ago.

This is clearly a bare-hones concept by Hilton.

    ^^ that is pretty awful.

They are planning a 21-story dual brand concept (Tru and Home2 Suites) in Denver. Will be interesting to see the renderings as both of those concepts are pretty loud in their color schemes, so far this is all that has been revealed.

Yep. You earn half the points at a Tru as you do at all other Hilton brands (except Home2 Suites - also half the normal)...

I work right next to this. It's actually a pretty cool looking building. I love it.

I like it as well. It sticks out and looks different than all the other hotels in the area. The one right across from it will be REALLY different looking when complete.

What is going in across from it?

There are 3 hotels being put in on that lot. I don't know what the other two are, but the one across from Tru is like 7-8 stories tall and has a very unique design to it

The other two being built are the new La Quinta & a Residence Inn

Interesting. I wasn't aware that it was the first of the TRU brand to open. It feels a lot like an aloft concept to me.

Oh, so close. Maybe if they'd taken just a second to proofread before posting.

I believe this will be better quality than Aloft (wasn't impressed). We know the builder on this one and I can't wait to check it out.

I'm continually amazed by the number of hotels we're building in OKC!

Wasn't impressed either. Stayed in one recently as it was about the only option available where we went. that was the worst bed I have slept on in a while!
