I like that typo. The call against KD was indeed quite fragrant!
Yes
HELL YES
I like that typo. The call against KD was indeed quite fragrant!
I have no doubt that he likes him as a person, but If KD wanted to play for Scott Brooks, Scott Brooks would be coaching the Oklahoma City Thunder right now. I hope the Wizards hired Brooks because they like him as a coach, because the KD2DC thing is a ridiculous idea. It won't happen. Especially now.
The complaining isn't a good look for Carlisle, or Dirk. The Mavs look like a worse version of the Clippers right now.
Curry out two weeks. This could open up the Thunder and Spurs for a chance to move past them for the WCF.
From what I understand, Curry is going to be re-evaluated in two weeks so he could be out even longer. This pretty much opens the door for the Clippers, but it's not a sure thing that the Clippers beat a Curry-less Warriors team. And Curry could be back for the Western Conference Finals if they make it. It certainly makes things interesting although I hate to see any player injured, particularly during the playoffs.
Two weeks was a guess by the GM. Wonder if anybody in GS hopes that POR stretches it to 7.
I don't think the Blazers could have actually knocked off the Clippers... Until Chris Paul's injury. That means the Curryless Warriors are back in the driver's seat for the Western Conference Finals. What a break for them... And what a nightmare for CP3. Although you never know whether Curry will return fully healthy.
Now it's Chris Paul + Blake Griffin injury.
this is shaping up to be a spectacular playoff season for the Thunder, we always turn it up a notch during the playoffs and it's no different this time around. The fact that we blew 4th quarter leads all season, getting EMBARRASSED, the stars are aligned just right to blow everyone's expectations up about us not getting past SA or GS. I can totally see us being the western conference champions. The question is, are we good enough to beat LEBRON FOR ONCE?!
I'm going to Game 3 next Friday! I'm super duper excited! TTFU!!
For the record, the Spurs are far better than Cavs.
We'll see what this Thunder team is made of. Can they make this series competitive?
I honestly believe this year's Spurs and Warriors teams could be two of the better teams in NBA history. They're just complete teams that play on an elite level. Let's see if the Thunder bounce back... Regardless, I'll be at Game 3 cheering loud.
I'll be at game 3 too! I've been of the belief that thunder athleticism would overwhelm the spurs. I hope the series goes to 6 like usual, or maybe even 7.
On the bright side, it'll be really hard for the Thunder to play any worse.
Yup. When they picked up Aldridge, it just became unfair. I think OKC can make this a series, and hopefully it starts tonight by at least being competitive. Hopefully we win our home games and see what we can do at game 5 or 7. Spurs were on fire, and we were on ice, we had one of those against DAL, but this time were punished because it is against an elite team.
Hopefully it is a nice wake up call in the locker room.
Watching interviews from practice yesterday, the players still appear to be pretty confident.
The offense wasn't really ice cold: we shot 47% from the field...as long as it wasn't KD or Russ taking the shot.
But really 92 points, especially against the Spurs, is not an AWFUL point total. Our defense is absolutely what lost us the game. I mean, a 43 point quarter is...unfathomable in the playoffs.
Anyway, we probably need at least 10 more points to win a game, but who knows. Really don't know what's up with KD + Russ...they don't seem to be having very much fun...it's as if the playoffs are a laborious process instead of a chance to play some basketball and enjoy the spirit of competition...even when they were crushing the Mavs. So hopefully they turn it on. The team simply can't survive against the Spurs when they're shooting 32%. We had close games against the Mavs with that "strategy"...the game is over by the 1st half if that's what we're packing against SAS.
Airport is about to be crazy!
I don't want to hear about the no-call on Dion at the last inbound. Ginobli was like 2 inches from him and touching Dion himself. Then Durant gets fouled on the catch, then Aldridge gets fouled down low. The refs seriously let everything go in the last possession. Crazy ending.
True guts by everyone on the team tonight. I am really proud of Russ and Kevin trusting the teammates to knock down shots in the last 5 minutes.
Looked a bit like Scott Brooks basketball to me where Russ took over the game with his athleticism, and Ibaka playing more defensive minded. I'll take it though cause it works against the Spurs. Really liked Ibaka vs LMA
LMA with 41 points. Thunder 18 turnovers.
Bring both of those down and that will make Game 1 look like a freak occurence!
Aldridge is going to get his points in this series. OKC has no position that can defend that well enough. Ibaka and Collison are basically our only options for that and Ibaka is getting torched and Collison likely wouldn't fare too well.
You have to stop the points elsewhere. Which OKC did last night.
Aldridge is hitting contested jumpers at an absurd rate well above his average... in short, while he's good, he's not this good. He'll start missing some. And I'm okay with OKC living with LMA getting and playing solid defense on everyone else by not helping, which is exactly what happened last night. Waiters' defense on Leonard was outstanding.
That was really an incredibly impressive win and it's not like OKC played it's best ball. There were a lot of unnecessary turnovers, little offensive contribution from Waiters (until his huge three on a late possession where OKC actually moved the ball beautifully), and so on. Let's see what OKC can do with these two home games...
On the last play drama. If anybody should be upset, it should be OKC. We should have received a technical free-throw which could have resulted in a 2 point lead (which is a million times different than a 1 point lead) and it would have given Waiters more space and another chance to inbound. More importantly, next time we need to have Nazr or Nick inbound.
As far as the other 47:47 --- OKC played its best defense that I've seen since 2014 quite frankly, and that's absolutely why we won. If they play defense to that level the rest of the playoffs, they absolutely have a shot to win a title this season. Roberson was like +17, bested only by Ibaka at +18.
Oh yea, forgot to mention this. Has anyone noticed Foye is basically out of the rotation?
Still no clue why Donovan waited until the playoffs to finally push a Morrow and Payne incorporated lineup. I like seeing Payne out there getting experience, but he looked scared in game 2 down in SA. I think he will be more comfortable at home this Friday.
