Of course it could have been that they were simply responding to what the majority of their viewers wanted... that seems to be a fact that escapes you and your sooner bred friend.

All this crying about KWTV not carrying the memorial is pretty lame.

Going with what more viewers would tune in too translates to higher ratings and more money. You know you're right when those who want to call you an idiot post a response that backs up you view. Thanks PUGalicious

Oklahoma owned or not all KWTV cares about is money, PERIOD. Those who are blinded by their promos and think they care about Oklahomans are the REAL idiots.

There's not one television station in this market, with the possible exception of OETA, that doesn't care about money. It's still a business, Oklahoma-owned or not. I didn't hear of any Oklahoma-owned companies halting operations or closing their offices — even for an hour — in memoriam of the anniversary. That must mean that all these other Oklahoman-owned company only care about money, PERIOD, according to your logic.

I'm not at all blinded by KWTV's promos. I don't even like KWTV, except to watch their weather coverage or helicopter views of breaking news events. I have no loyalty to anyone at that station. However, I do applaud their courage to rise above the irrational hysteria of some to make its own decisions regarding its programming — whether it's solely based on ratings and money or it's based on viewer satisfaction.

By the way, did you go down to the memorial service? Anyone "truly" outraged by KWTV's decision would have been down at the memorial service because they understand what it means to "truly" honor the memory of those lost on that tragic day — not counting on the profit-lusting media to cover the event so they don't have the inconvenience of actually showing up.

And the local stations wondered why we the public pay for cable, or buy Satellite Radio Services, hmmmm!
I had wondered why Cox hadn't used its local broadcast stations to bring the Remeberance Ceremony to us.

i'll try to remember that oeta doesn't care about money the next time it bombards its viewers with another week-long 'festival'... :P

all kidding aside, i think this is a non-issue. did kwtv make a decision based on money? sure... but so did koco and kfor. if anyone wants to point their finger at kwtv for being callous by not covering the event, then you'd better point that finger at koco and kfor for both capitalizing off of it. i fail to understand why choosing to or not choosing to cover an event (even a sentimental one) makes a villain out of a particular company.

did oeta break away from programming? if not, i'm never giving them another $150 for a $20 cookbook ever again. then who's gonna be the one looking stupid.

I can pretty much guarantee you that if KWTV had planned to air it, the other two would have stayed away. There's most definitely not an audience to spread across three stations for this.

    FYI-

KFOR won the 9am hour yesterday.

Guess there are SOME people that still care.

Did you care enough to actually attend the service yesterday?

There's not enough people watching for 3 networks to air the exact same thing.

No I didn't. You see, I was at work but was able to watch it on television (on a non-"Oklahoma Owned" station). Did you care enough to watch it, or do they not allow the viewing of other stations at Griffin?

If you really cared so much about the observance of the memorial service, you would have attended. But you were obviously worried more about your pocket book that the principle of remembrance that you demand of KWTV.

I couldn't tell you if they allow the viewing of other stations at Griffin. I don't work there. But I can turn the TV in my office to whatever channel I want, Oklahoma-owned and non-Oklahoma owned. I was not watching the coverage of the memorial service; I was not watching KWTV; I was watching one of the cable news channels. After the tenth anniversary, I no longer attend or watch the yearly service. I have chosen to move forward.

All of our news is driven by money in this country. Where have you been?

Give a listen or watch to something like BBC World News sometime. The difference is shocking.
