RAYO OKC ANNOUNCES BROADCAST PARTNERSHIP WITH COX | Rayo OKC

The inaugural Rayo OKC season in the North American Soccer League (NASL) will be available to soccer fans in Oklahoma with 28 of the team’s 32 matches to be televised live on Cox Channel 703.

The historic first-ever competitive Rayo OKC match in the NASL at home to FC Edmonton will be televised live in high definition (HD) from Miller Stadium at 7pm CT on Saturday, April 2.

“Exposing our brand via a reputable provider such as Cox was a goal of ours from the outset,” said Rayo OKC managing partner Brad Lund. “Cox has a long history of producing high-level professional and amateur sporting events in Oklahoma.”

Long-time Oklahoma City sports personality Mark Rodgers will handle play-by-play duties, while The Franchise’s Todd Lisenbee will serve as color analyst. Rodgers currently co-hosts “The Monsters of the Midday” on The Sports Animal in Oklahoma City, while Lisenbee of “The Dylan and Todd Show” is highly respected in Oklahoma City for his knowledge of the sport of soccer.

“The growth of soccer has gone from projection to tangible reality,” said Rodgers. “I worked in Dallas for the World Cup in 1994 and have had an interest in the game ever since. Rayo OKC is putting together an incredibly talented roster with significant international experience. I am eager to be a part of the impact this team is going to have in Oklahoma.”

The regional television deal comes after the NASL announced a multiyear broadcast television partnership with ONE World Sports, which will include Rayo OKC being featured three times on the NASL Game of the Week series.

    Fantastic!

Oklahoma City will have NASL Rayo OKC & USL Oklahoma City Energy FC on local television. Will have to set the VCR for these events.

I think he is suggesting a deal with Cox is more prestigious than one with KSBI. He's not so much concerned with the end product but rather looking for an opportunity to throw rocks at the Energy and its ownership, despite claims to the contrary. The proof is in the pudding; his posting history is only one click away.

Yeah it's really off-putting. Support whomever you'd like, but the pot shots taken at the other organization are borderline obsessive.

Since the 2016 Oklahoma City Energy thread on this forum, I have not seen borchard post on that forum at all. He has dominate the Rayo OKC thread.

True soccer fans will recognize talent & finesse on the field of play.

This is a good thing IMO because these telecasts can help or hurt these franchises in the long term because that product Rayo OKC and OKC Energy FC put on the field of play will result in marketing the brand for both teams. It could also backfire and hurt attendance. The ratings from KSBI-52 (Energy FC) & Cox 703 (Rayo OKC) will be the x-factor for our soccer community.

Energy FC has had two years to get well established. Attendance by OKC Energy FC appears to have hit an impressive 6,250 plus average for the last seven events at Taft Stadium.

Rayo OKC has invested huge financial & capital resources into player personnel and getting the NASL's presence in metro OKC. Borchard has kept us informed of player personnel developments for Rayo OKC--which has been impressive.

Borchard, myself & many want the best for Oklahoma City. We would like to see the city build some kind of sports stadium for soccer & American football on our riverfront or in the core; much like OKC did for AAA baseball & NBA basketball.

The early Battle of OKC between the NASL & the USL has brought a lot of attention to our community.

Myself, I hope both franchises can survive & prosper in our market.

Let's unite behind both the NASL & USL. If both franchises or one is standing come 2019--we'll unite behind Oklahoma City & soccer.

I think arguing prestige of being broadcast by a local CBS affiliate or being broadcast by a local cable franchise is absurd, especially considering the difference in availabilities. I'd rather just support both teams and soccer in Oklahoma in general.

It's the new field that is being installed for Rayo OKC. They got it from Canada. Apparently it is the same field that Montreal Impact uses. Instead of playing on gridiron lines, or paying to paint the field multiple times per year, they bought their own field that will be over-layed on top of the football fiend at Miller. Another plus is that when they move to a SSS they can take the filed with them

Let's hurry up and get those installed. The way things are disappearing around here, I wouldn't blink.

No worries, I hope... They were actively moving the pallets into the stadium when I drove by.

    PITCH PERFECT | Rayo OKC
“This top class playing surface underlines the commitment by our ownership, who are true soccer people through and through, to bring the best experience possible for Rayo OKC supporters when they come out to support us this season,” said Rayo OKC co-owner Sean Jones. “The pitch is 74 yards wide, bringing a FIFA-level professional style of soccer to Oklahoma and putting the fans close to the action, where they will almost be able to touch the game.”

It is a statewide deal. From I have been told 28, of the 30, games will be broadcast in OKC AND Tulsa on Cox, not just in OKC.
Second, NASL games will be available nationwide on several networks that should be announced today/tomorrow.
Rayo OKC will be involved in a national "Game Of The Week" several times this year on a national partner (CBS Sports or BeIN Sports?)
All NASL games can be seen on ESPN 3, as well.
