Thread: 2015-16 OKC Thunder

Westbrook and Durant will probably want to go to Cleveland and play with LeBron because they can't with the current team and Billy Donovan. ESPN will be slamming the Thunder on all programs (like they already do). Clippers looking like they make give the Warriors a scare int he second round while the Thunder will be eliminated by the end of April.

So are you writing the Thunder off at this point?

He says a bunch of ridiculous things, but never puts his money where his mouth is. Reducing him to troll status. 4/10 for the attempt though.

Serious doubt has to be setting in for many folk, based on what the Thunder has put on the floor since the break. Wow.

I've just listened to a ticked off Desmond Mason listing what he sees wrong with the Thunder. And why at this point they just aren't that good. Without getting into everything he talked about I will say the hope I had for this season is waning. And my expectations of keeping KD and Westbrook went down quite a bit too.

Those talk show guys' talk--Granny taught me that 'talk' is cheap...

Understand everyone's feelings about the Thunder based on their last 10 games (4 wins/6 losses) beginning with the lost to the Warriors in Oakland.

    Loss @Clippers 103-98 (-5) winnable game
Loss to Warriors 121-118 (-3) winnable game
    Loss @Pelicans 123-119 (-4) winnable game
    Loss to Cavaliers 115-92 (-23)
Loss to Pacers 101-98 (-3) winnable game
    Loss @ Warriors 116-108 (-8) winnable game

4 of 6 losses by 5 points or less in which they lead in the 4th quarter. Thunder has match up problems vs. Cleveland.

Donovan has made mistakes that most college coaches make upon their entry into the NBA. Durant & Westbrook are our leaders; they can't seem to make that transition from Brooks' coaching system to a more disciplined one under Billy Donovan. Evidence: The 4th quarter meltdowns vs. @Warriors, Pacers, @Pelicans, Warriors & @Clippers in which they have attempted to take over the game with hero ball--two man game.

Note: We have been without our two top assistant coaches Monty Williams & Maurice Cheeks in those last 10 games. It wouldn't surprise me if Williams gets a head coaching job while out on bereavement.

I have a feeling I'm gonna wake up to a thumping tomorrow morning and Curry will be sitting on 300 3pt'ers.

Halftime just over, they didn't do too bad.

Thunder do not have the depth of talent to beat GS over a series, period. SP line up of bench players is overall not good, accept that fact

I didn't deny it to start with. What I had a problem with is that people point to the bench without giving any accountability to the starters.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am already done with Randy Foye. Get Payne back in there, PLEASE.

I hate seeing Payne and Morrow get 0 minutes.

I saw something where Donovan said the reason Payne hasn't been getting his minutes is because teams scouted him and figured out how to stop him from being so effective.

This logic makes no sense, Foye doesn't even need to be scouted. He is just a warm body out there that can't defend and has a falling off three point shot. You WANT teams to have to scout multiple players - it takes time and resources, it forces the players to have to remember a certain guy's play style.

I used to cringe at Scott Brooks' stubbornness in adjustments - but it feels like Donovan is just a slightly more relaxed version of the same coach style. I like the staggering of KD and RW - but the handling of the rest of the role players is annoying.

Watching the last few minutes of the game, when it was still in reach. Foye and Roberson were just standing in the corners. Which made it 5-3. It was depressing to watch. Seeing Payne and Morrow get no minutes is also disturbing to me, as well as Kanter only getting 12 minutes. Also I don't care what people say, throwing Singler out there drastically reduces your chance of winning. I get the feeling Presti is trying to be too much like Billy Bean trying out outsmart with stats. Its different than baseball and its being proven in front of our eyes. This team needs a major overhaul, esp the bench.

    Thunder fans:

There's always a ray of hope. It's sometimes difficult to look past the frustration and dissect the heart of the problem.

We (fans) have to get our swagger back (LOUD CITY)--duplicate that energy force of the Warriors' fan base. They didn't give up; you could sense that 'force' being transferred to the players' on the court.

Thank you Laramie for posting that, I haven't given up on the Thunder, I still think we still have a chance to win more than 50 games, I did listen to the Franchise this morning, and yes they were dogging on the Thunder, but I don't pay attention to them.

I'm no basketball expert by any means, but it seems to me, when he's in the game, as skilled offensively as he is, Kanter oughta be at least touching the ball every possession on the Thunder end of the court. Seemed like he was woefully underused last night.

Team is reportedly going to sign Nazr Mohammed. Watch out, Golden State!

38 year old, geez OKC is desperate. Too little too late, primary strategy of developing new talent has proven to be a failure ( in terms of putting together a championship level team for the near term).

I don't really pay attention to the guys who's job it is to just talk either. But I think it's safe to believe that guys like Desmond Mason or Royce Young who either played in the league or make a living doing nothing but following the Thunder know more than we as fans do. Much like I listen to doctors when they talk medicine or lawyers when they talk about the law.

    Agree,

Mason & Young are among the best; like having good advice on investing in stocks & bonds.

The veteran of eight teams in his 18th NBA season played in Oklahoma City once before, when the Thunder lost to the Miami Heat in the 2011-12 NBA Finals. He spent the previous three seasons with the Chicago Bulls in a limited backup capacity but has not played this season.
Good move to gear up for the playoffs; he's played on enough teams, so he shouldn't have any trouble making that adjustment.

Oklahoma City Thunder to sign center Nazr Mohammed

Are we 'fashion or fair weather fans' or are we 'true fans' dedicated to our Oklahoma City Thunder?

That's means supporting the franchise through good times & bad times.

Eh, I didn't think much of Mohammed when he was on the Thunder, and don't think so much now. Thunder is stacked at C as is.

As for Kanter, I'm often disappointed that he's not playing more as well. WIth the amount of minutes he plays he usually ends up getting around the same numbers as Ibaka, not to mention Thunder are paying him a lot.

Mohammed wasn't signed for his play. He was brought on to be a strong veteran voice in the locker room, which they have obviously been missing since Perk was dealt.

He's just a positive locker room presence. Everything isn't negative.
