hailmary57,
I can set you up with a test account. OKCTalk is a property of URLJet.com LLC. Two years ago I started, developed and then sold another hosting company. At the time we hosted over 6,700 domains from around the world. I still manage sites for a select group of clients.
I setup URLJet.com LLC to handle those clients. Before long OKCTalk was born and kind of just developed as its own property under the URLJet leadership. I am getting ready to launch our new site in about 30 days. You are more than welcome to visit at http://www.urljet.com.
My clients are not numbers and know most of my techs by name. We don't aim to be the cheapest hosting company. If you want a $3.95 hosting company that promises the world we're not for you. Cheap hosting companies come and go like the wind. You cannot substain growth and great support for $3.95. We offer one on one support, free script installations and consulting for every client.
You can get all the hosting details here: http://www.urljet.com/hosting/
I will tell you each account comes with over 50 pre-loaded scripts including blogs, shopping carts, CMS systems, guestbooks, etc.
Please PM me and let me know if you want me to setup your account.
I've got a site that will need a shopping cart feature in the near future. I don't know a lot about setting those up. How does yours work as far as payment goes? Can you take a site, add the shopping cart and make it work with VISA, M/C, PayPal, etc? Any fees involved in that?
Floating_adrift,
You can add a shopping cart to any site. Its just a matter of integrating your design into the shopping cart templates.
You can use Visa, MC, Amex, Discover, and most all the third party vendors such as PayPal, 2checkout, etc. You will need a merchant account and gateway to process transactions online in real time.
We prefer the osCommerce platform because it has been battle tested and has a large following. We can load oscommerce on any account free. Plus its open source which means the program itself is free. You can also choose from the million other programs and we'll load it for free as long as its server compatible.
If you want to perform secure transactions you'll need an SSL certificate to encrypt customer data. If you use a third party vendor you will not need one.
Here is the link to osCommerce: http://www.oscommerce.com/
thanks!
