    Default Coney Island Express

New place going in at Hefner and Rockwell. They have been working on it for a few weeks. Not sure of opening or other info. This is the NE corner which was location of old run down convenience store.

They advertised for 5 employee positions for people over 21 bc of ABLE commission rules. So strong beer and brats maybe!

Well, was gonna give a report after i went tonight. However, when i walked in a little after 6 the line was wrapped around the inside of the building - maybe 30-plus people deep! Uh, I'll get a coney another time! But looks like a fantastic opening few days for them! People parking right in front of Braums and walking over to Coney Island.

Yep, it's looked crowded every time I've driven by the last couple days!

I got a peek at their menu and it looks fantastic. Will definitely have to try their brat plate.

We tried to try it tonight but it was extremely busy, line was snaked around the inside and was moving very slowly. I did not see a menu online so here is one:

Does the ownership have any connections to any other eating establishements?

Does the Coney Island in Midtown count?

Traffic has died off considerably and lower prices are now plastered on everything outside of the restaurant. Had a great start but my coworkers that went weren't impressed with the dogs.

I wasn't impressed with the original location, and maybe even less with this one. I don't think the original location gets much business either.

I went in September but haven't been back. Just wasn't anything too special and I thought was a bit pricey. Went by today and saw they had put up some specials on signs outside. Might give it one more try!

^agree with how you put it tsou - it's OK, but nothing special and is sorta pricey for dogs.

I tried it once... Probably won't be going back. Again, nothing special and not particularly healthy either. Has to be a little of one.

Is this the place that alleges they have "world famous" dogs?

Where is the original location in Midtown? I'm only familiar with the old Coney Island locations on W Main and in Capitol Hill.

Across the street from the colorful building that's a parking lot. I think the building attached to it is the High tower? Nearest intersection is Hudson and Main

Oh, so the one on W Main then. So Coney Island Express is connected to the people who run the existing two Coney Islands?

Not at all affiliated with Coney Island, as far as I know. They apparently started up in Edmond, but closed that one. Reopened (and remain open) near the NW corner of NW 4th and Hudson, to the east of the Embark transfer station.

They do a very solid Midwest style chili dog. Personally, I think they put too much chili and cheese on them which makes them a pain to actually eat. Ordering light chili and cheese makes that manageable and a complete craving stopper.

They opened one way north, to mixed reviews. That said, the standard proportions are a bit off for me, but I really hope they succeed because the ingredients really suit my Michigan/Tennessee sensibilities. Cinnamon in chili in Oklahoma does me very little good. It's way more pervasive in Oklahoma than true Cincinnati chili I've had. Another culinary example of Oklahoma poorly copying something from a famous place. E.g., Sauced, Slice House, Falcone's; credible copies, but not meeting the mark because the raw ingredients or cooking methods aren't readily available. OKC should do it's own thing when it can't excel at a replication. CDE nails the ingredients for me, but the proportions are just overkill.

Just an opinion, by all means, but hopefully an informed one.

It probably happens more often than I realize, but I'm not a fan of hotdogs that are cooked via boiling water. For them in particular, overpriced. Even with the variety of ingredients, I'd rather go to Sam's Club or something.

This location on Rockwell is owned by the same person that owns The Wild Turkey liqour store, FYI.

OMG, we must be separated at birth, you're the only other person I know that isn't totally gaga all over Empire Slice House's slices, lol...
