What's a Tulsa?
What's a Tulsa?
This place opens in about 15 minutes. From the few pictures I've seen online, looks like a decent turnout.
While I was checking out brickopolis and the new mini golf course I saw some people promo for H&M. They mostly sat on their phones as people walked across their sign.
H&M is now what the Gap was in the 80's and 90's.
I think it is already much bigger than the Gap ever has been. It is the second largest clothing retailer in the world, I believe. I think they are about 60 years old, so they have great staying power. I know my wife has been shopping them in Europe for a very long time.
My wife said the line at opening was huge...wrapped around the upper mall. Lines for checkout were over an hour wait sometimes today.
Hope other national and international retailers take note. Love to see Zara and Uniqlo here.
The Gap and H&M have about the same number of stores now, but are clearly going different directions.
H&M just recently passed the GAP as the world's #2 largest clothing retailer. Zara of Spain is the biggest.
Like most retailers, they have lots of things in the stores you can't buy on-line.
There won't be one hour lines ongoing, but they will be very successful here. Would do great in Norman.
That blows my mind that people would wait that long in a line / checkout when you can buy the same thing online. Were they having an opening day sale?
They were in line to get the gift cards.
It is still very much this way. When I travel for business once a month, I typically pack lite...knowing, I am going to hit up H&M to pick up a few shirts. Maybe, a cheap suit coat/casual blazer. The clothing doesn't last long at all. Most of their offerings utilize VERY cheap material, and are not made to last. If I had to guess, if I bought 5 dress shirts there..within 6 months..they would be out of the rotation. As in..1 time at the dry cleaners...the chemicals would disintegrate threading. After a 2nd time...the buttons would be cracked/missing.
I'm glad that H&M opened here in OKC, as I've been shopping there for 4-5 years now. I enjoy the cut and style of clothing, and its really the first "fashion forward" clothing option at one of the malls here in OKC.....but people also need to understand exactly what it is that they're buying, so they don't get butthurt. It took me a while to really figure it out...but I have seen someone here explain it the best... It is "Throw away" clothing. Buy it.....wear it a few times.....donate/trash it....rinse and repeat.
