Daycare/Private School

I'm posting for my neighbors cause I thought this might be a good place to get info. They have a kid that would be getting close to pre-k age. The mother has stayed home, but is looking to go back to work, so they are starting to look around at daycares. The other caveat here is they are considering placing their daughter at a place that does kindergarten, since Moore doesn't do all day kindergarten. I don't think they are wanting to private school all the way through, but at the same time I get where they are coming from. Why do kindergarten half day at one school and move to another when they could just be at the same school all day long. So essentially they want pre-k and k and then would probably move her to 1st grade in Moore schools.

Anyone have any suggestion on daycare/schools? For reference we live West of the airport so they are really looking for something in that area of south/southwest OKC.

My neighbor has had his twins at Westmoore Child Development for the last several years and have been very happy with it

The daycare on the MMAC campus is supposed to be exceptional and from what I understand you don't have to be an employee/contractor to use it. The Launching Pad

Problem with this is although its closest to their house it's associated with Mustang schools and although we are west or house's for some reason are Moore schools.

Primrose at 119th and Penn is top notch. We used them for several years.

Oh, also - some of the Moore schools do have all day kindergarten. It's a lottery system to get in - but several of the schools on the West side offer it (I know Red Oak and Fisher do and I'm pretty sure Bonds does also. Not sure about Southlake though).

I am not sure about Bonds unless it is recent. They didn't a couple of years ago and I think that is why my neighbor's twins are at Westmoore child development. All of my kids went to Bonds.

Southlake does not, and since that's the new one for our area, not Bonds, they are looking for alternatives. This shouldn't be an issue. This district should offer all day kindergarten likely they are legally supposed to do. I really don't know why this isn't more of an issue. It's ridiculous honestly.

I agree it's ridiculous. I thought all of Moore schools had it, this thread was what prompted me to ask some friends that work for the district. I had no idea about the lottery system. It sucks because I really didn't want to pay Primrose tuition for two kids that long! We are in Red Oak district - but close to Fisher also, fingers crossed the lottery is in my favor next year!

They're also consolidating the Pre-K's to only certain schools over the next few years. This is the last year for Pre-K at Bonds. They're grouping them into Pre-K "pods" at only certain schools. Supposedly to serve just as many kids - but the teachers will have to move to other schools. It doesn't impact me yet - but I have several friends who are upset about the change.

I'm glad to hear people inquire. I see comments about it from time to time on Facebook and the school never responds. Clearly they don't care and just pay the fee for not complying with the law. We are at a real disadvantage being on the for west side/east side of mustang. No schools are close and the ones that are are the outliars that don't offer pre k and full day kindergarten. Real shame because I'd say most of them houses west of i44 tend to be on the large size on larger lots that pay a lot of property taxes. I'm still about 5 years from this being my issue but if they still are illegally operating at that point I'm not sure if I'll move or just do something like primrose till 1st grade and constantly nag the school.

Saw this today on their FB, usually these get deleted but we'll see. I wish more people would share this kind of stuff because most people are under the impression the district serves everyone equally.

Please figure out the enrollment process. This is extremely ridiculous. It has never been so hard to take your kids to school. The education is already regressed and now the heads of the dept have made it that much worse. My child is one of the unlucky ones who only gets to attend school for 2 1/2 hours and then be labeled as behind when he starts 1st grade because he didn't as good of an education as the full day kindergarten. Makes no sense to me!!!!!

I am also finding a good Phoenix pre-k for my 4 year old daughter. I want to go back to work. So I would prefer a pre-k that offers after school daycare services too. Could anyone help me?
