Thread: Cecil the lion

  1. Default Re: Cecil the lion

In many places, deer, elk and whatever no longer have enough natural predetors to keep the populations under control so hunting is necessay to prevent diseases. My neighborhood is overrun with rabbits because we dont seem to have any foxes or coyotes. They carry diseases if there are too many such as plague. Read up on Wildlife management.

One of the things that angers me the most about this is the guy paid someone to murder this animal. He was too ***** to go and do it himself. I hope he gets extradited and as punishment gets fed to the lions.

Oh what a magnificent creature. Let's kill it.

I'm no vegan. I have eaten beef or chicken every day for as long as I can remember. Every hunter I know talks about how addictive it is and every single one of them talks about their "trophies". Every single one of them also justifies their sick fetish by spouting off their population control bs. Crazy people with guns that like to shoot defenseless animals because they think it is fun.
But, "population control" and what not....

Why don't we go to India and China and start randomly shooting people? Seriously, let's find all of the diseased and elderly. You cannot deny that doing that will make for a more sustainable population.

Welcome to the site. I see you're new here, and I think new blood is good. That being said, this kind of hyperbole is not productive. If you're OK eating chickens that are pumped full of steroids, have their legs broken, and are kept in cages until they're slaughtered, and are upset about folks going out and hunting deer, I see a big disconnect. I know multiple folks who food supply/survival/sustainability depends on hunting. I myself get a good supply of my meat from friends who hunt and provide me deer meat. I'm lucky to have a large freezer in the garage. I don't hunt myself, but that's due to my own squeamishness. But I don't begrudge legal hunting, and deer hunting in the US is essential to the survival of the species. The same happens (not as regularly) with wolves, and other species.

There's a difference between legitimate population control, hunting for food, and baiting a threatened species out of a protected park and killing it for a decoration.

The situation--and the reason for my disgust at this "Great White Hunter"--could not have been more clearly expressed. Thank you.

Deer 1 bow hunter 0. Full disclosure, I've hunted and fished but I ate what I killed. I don't do either any more but I still eat meat. I might quit that too one day.

Absolutely! I am not thrilled about the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. They are killed at the end of their run also.

    Really?

Yes, the bulls are stabbed to death when they reach the end. They never show that part on TV.

just to be a bit more precise, the run directs the bulls to the ring where they later take place in a bullfight. it's in that bullfight that they meet their bovine maker. -M

So big game joy killer Walter James Palmer belongs to Safari Club International. SCI maintains a list of big game joy kills by their 50,000 members. Cabelas and Bass Pro both sponsor the Big Game Joy Kill Recordbook list.

I will now start cheering for the bulls during the run and in the ring even harder.

I may not be translating this right, but I think the guy may have been saying -
'And after I was knocked down the third time, I swear that buck was saying stay down cammo boy, I gots your deer meat for you right here.'

I remember when that video first appeared. That moron had covered himself in deer lure (which likely included deer urine and/or estrous). The funny/scary part (scary because his life was truly at risk) is that his wife was taping and never put down the video camera to help once her idiot husband was in real trouble. She just kept on taping...

Society can only hope is that as a couple they were infertile.

I wonder if the $50,000 killing fee went straight to that country's dictator.

This is the long version of the video.

Maybe this is how it feels to be the quiet, slight of build, sober guy in a bar near closing time. You just stand and watch, amazed and weirded out at the same time.

I'm in agreement with you. I'm making my point to people who think all hunting in general should be banned and dont understand that overpopulation of species where natural predators dont exist is a far worse situation. Chronic wasting disease has been a problem with elk and other deer species in Colorado because some areas had too many of them. Someone earlier sarcastically suggested we go shooting people where there is overpopulation. He/she inadvertently proved my point because disease can ravish poor, overpopulated areas of humans. Ebola is a good example.
